Shining a Light on the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher with TrueSteam

Recently I was asked to review the LG QuadWash Steam Dishwasher, and truth be told, I initially hesitated. I, like most people, am very picky with large kitchen appliances. We RELY on them every day. When choosing one for our home, we dive into specs and reviews, usually browsing hard and many times over, before settling on one.

So before accepting, I did the same thing as I ordinarily would when dishwasher shopping. I searched and read reviews on the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher, but also weighed the pros and cons of my current dishwasher.

More than a dish cleaner (because I personally am not one. Washing dishes by hand tops my most detested task list), a dishwasher is like your assistant in the home. It has to keep up with all the daily chaos, never missing a beat.

It’s a job it literally had to interview for.

After learning all I could without actually using it, the hesitation was gone and I happily accepted. Truth be told, some of the features were so outstanding that I had to see for myself or I might never believe it.

Myself and my chaotic home needed this dishwasher!

When my LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher was being installed, I tried to keep a respectful distance from the technician working away, eager and ready to pounce when I heard the words that it was ready to go. At one point he commented that this particular dishwasher must be the best out there, as he had already installed 5 others that week.

A kitchen with a dishwasher

As soon as I said my thank you’s and closed the front door, I ran to the kitchen and pulled opened the dishwasher for the first time. Lights illuminated and I literally beamed.

Well, hello there, welcome to our home.

NOTE: What you are about to see is real un-staged life. Our real life includes a literal mish-mash of mis-matched odds and ends that tell a story of our chaotic days. I hope you relate to these thoughts that could be much like your own.

LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher features that make me swoon:

Let me start off with initial impression which is the LED tub light that is activated when the door is open. Yes it offers an impressive sophisticated interior look, but there’s more to it. Just think of your lighted appliances: fridge, stove, deep freeze, microwave. Heck, even my vacuum and lawn mover have a light.

So if your dishwasher doesn’t have a light, ask yourself: what does it have to hide?!

Each and every time I open my dishwasher at the end of a cycle, the brilliant light illuminates to show its work and glory. It may seem trivial, yet it’s a voila disclosure of a job done well, but makes me feel continually grateful that I didn’t have to do the work.

Design

With dishwashers, we tend to change our loading preferences and habits based on its individual design. Yet I find the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher transforms to suit your needs with each load, which in itself is so clever.

I had always shied away from third rack models because I assumed they resulted in less space for the more common and necessary items on the other racks. The LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher proved me very wrong, it turns out, I adore having this third rack option.

I realized that most of the space that I was reserving {and wasting} on the other racks, were for those odds and ends that is actually smarter to lay down on this slimline top rack. I’m looking at you wooden spoons, whisks, spatulas and measuring cups!

The EasyRack™ Plus system allows you to very easily change rack heights depending on what you need to wash. Taking it a step farther, it features folding rack tines too, which I have found so convenient for pots and pans.

I have literally bent dishwasher prongs in the past trying to squeeze in various sizes of pots, so this is another example of how this dishwasher adjusts to suits your needs and not vice versa.

Thing is, we all have our own way of loading a dishwasher so what you see here or anywhere for that matter, is just a fraction of loading options. This is what I did on this particular day in time. For instance, you can also use the third top rack for cutlery as there are prongs to hold them, and simply take the basket out entirely to increase space on the lowest rank.

I have found that on those days when I have many tall water bottles because of kid activities and school events, the other contents don’t need to be excluded because of me having to lower the rack so much. In the past I had to run half-full cycles because of the awkwardness to load.

Now with the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher I can load two full sinks of dishes and marvel that I still have so much room left.

Notable mentions are also the sleek and modern stainless steel outside and the hidden control panel.

So Quiet

Whether it’s during the night, during the day when I work, or in the evening when we’re trying to watch a movie together – no one wants a noisy dishwasher.

LG boasts a very quiet dishwasher, and it’s true. If it didn’t have indicator lights and a visible timer, I would be forced sometimes to open the door and see what’s going in in there. Quiet it is, and for all reasons why, this is a great thing.

Performance

Let’s talk performance because at the end of the day, this kitchen assistant has a job to do. Most days I run the Auto cycle which is actually a smart auto cycle as it senses load size and general filth, then cleans accordingly. In my experience, it’s never been wrong.

In addition to the Auto cycle, there is actually 9 wash cycles to choose from {other are Heavy, Delicate, Normal, Turbo, Download Cycle, Machine Clean, Rinse, and Express}. You can also choose Dual Zone Wash, which varies the intensity between the upper and lower racks.

This is great for those times like holiday meals when you have heavily soiled dishware and pots on the bottom rack which need different attention than delicate stemware and cups on the upper. Or when I have post and pans on the bottom, then endless plastic storage containers on the top because we’ve been fuelled by leftovers.

Worthy of inclusion into the product name itself is the awesome QuadWash feature. While most dishwashers have two spray arms, this one features an impressive 4.

The LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher allows for maximum cleaning coverage, an the Multi-Motion arms rotate back and forth while spinning as well. These high-pressure jets power-clean dishes from multiple angles to reach every nook and cranny.

Aided with the TrueSteam and 3 stage filter system, when they say you don’t have to pre-wash or pre-rinse your dishes before starting a cycle, they mean it. That is a lot of team power working as one for a common goal, and boy do they succeed.

App Enabled

Yep, there is an app for that! The LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher works with the free LG SmartThinQ® Application. This allows you to communicate with your dishwasher using your smartphone.

Especially because it’s so incredibly quiet, I love the notification that the dishwasher is done via phone {and an adorable chime from the dishwasher}.

The LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher gives bang for the buck. In fact, it’s exceeded my expectations. Instead of being one daily chore among many, this dishwasher has proven to stand out as one that works with your needs in tackling the chaos.

Check out the LG QuadWash Steam  dishwasher and learn about the ways in with it would shine in your kitchen. Now if you’ll excuse me, I just got a notification that my dishes are done.

  1. We’re getting a new dishwasher very soon, and you’ve certainly gave me great information. I thought NO on the third rack but now I’m swaying. I love the option now, if I can move so much to fit everything.

  2. Wow, top of the line! Mine pales in comparison, and it doesn’t even clean half the time. Makes me so mad. New one, yes please!

  3. I loved reading your post on the dishwasher, it was very thorough and answered all the questions I had about 3 rack dishwashers. I too had need considering purchasing one.

  4. This review is very beneficial for me as I have been shopping around for a new dishwasher and was overwhelmed by all the brands . I am impressed it has 4 washing arms and a third rack. Plus it is so quiet

  5. Sold! I love this dishwasher. The 3rd rack plus cutlery in the door with 4 arms to get at everything! Who could ask for more? We are a LG family too. Our fridge is LG & the best we’ve ever had.

  6. We replaced our dishwasher about a year ago and went with LG too. Unfortunately, about 6 months in the main control board died after acting up for about a month. We got the board replaced through warranty, otherwise it’s been a great machine and I love the top row. Only disclaimer I will give is that say perhaps your machine stops working like ours and you had it loaded and then unable to wash dishes – make sure that you check that 3rd rack up top when you go to hand wash everything. We forgot and found it full of items about a week later in preparation for repair person coming over. Boy did that stink and we had to throw out all our wooden spoons. There was visible mold growth and had to end up disinfecting the whole thing and since it still stunk we tossed an air sponge in there closed it and waited. Thankfully it did the trick and removed the smell.

  7. I have the same model and I can’t find anyone to confirm a detail about the interior LED tub light. Even LG support wasn’t able to confirm if it’s normal.

When I load the dishes, I open the door – the tub light comes on. When I’m loading, I might take a few minutes and I see the interior light goes off. The only way I can maitain it on is to shut the door and reopen. Even the top controller buttons get disabled as the lights go off. I must shut the door, re-open it and then I can start using the buttons.

Are you noticing the same behavior after 3-4 minute? Thank you so much!

    1. Yes Mine too. The tub light (interior light) times out. Makes zero sense. Please LG, fix the tub light!
