White Chocolate Christmas Trash Snack Mix

11/16/2018 By Tammi 40 Comments

This White Chocolate Christmas Trash is a Snack Mix recipe with pretzels, cereal, candy all tossed together with chocolate. It’s quick, easy and an addicting treat.

White Chocolate Christmas Trash Snack Mix

This has been a favourite holiday treat of mine for many years. For us, packaged up as a gift – this makes the perfect quick and easy holiday treat or snack.

White Chocolate Christmas Trash Snack Mix is a no bake, microwave made recipe which takes just five minutes to make in one large batch. I actually published this recipe about 8 years ago yet under the name ‘white trash’. Huh.

Truth is, there’s plenty of name for this recipe so republishing was an idea, to make sure this hit of ours got the attention it so deserved. You could also call this Christmas Snack Mix or sometimes it’s referred to as Christmas Crack – because it’s just that addicting!

Christmas crack

White Chocolate Christmas Trash Snack Mix is the perfect combination of sweet and salty, the crunch of the cereals, candy and pretzels are perfectly married with the sweet softness of the melted chocolate.

How to make White Chocolate Christmas Trash Snack Mix

I think the ‘trash’ name in this recipe comes from the fact that you could easily dump all the dry ingredients of this recipe literally into a trash bag. Cheerios cereal, Chex cereal, pretzels and coated candy such as Smarties or M&Ms could simply be dumped into a trash bag and then shaken up once melted chocolate is poured in.

I guess it’s a good way to mix, but I actually dump into a large bowl and mix gently. I’m classy like that, no trash bag used here. But, your choice – whichever is easiest for you.

While I always use melted white chocolate with this recipe, because I have a strong love for the stuff. As evidenced by this much-loved White Chocolate Cranberry Fudge recipe that I make every year. Also, White Toffee Bark. YUM>

Yet, you could use a sweet dark if you’d like. Yet then the colours and shapes of the dry ingredients might not be as pretty and visible.

OR, I have been known to spread out my snack mix on wax paper to dry, then drizzle dark chocolate all over, for a nice touch. You could even take it a step farther and scatter some sprinkles as well.

Once dry, you just break off chunks and package as you wish. This recipe is PERFECT for Christmas baking exchanges, add chunks to a festive tin or bags and you have the ideal gift.

This recipe is so versatile to other holidays too, swap out the red and green candy for orange and black – and you have a Halloween treat too. Since this snack mix is so addicting, it’s one you’ll want to make all year long.

I have froze containers of this recipe before, the chocolate coating prevents the cereals from getting stale. As a warning, it’s gobbled up fast – so you might want to make a couple of batches so that it lasts longer.

Give this recipe a try this holiday season and thank me later! Enjoy!

  • 3 cups Chex
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 3 cups M&M's

  5. Once cooled, break-up and store in resealable containers or bags.
