There’s a new addition at Subway Canada – they are now serving up gourmet Paninis on fresh-baked ciabatta bread! They are available in four varieties: Chicken Cordon Bleu, Italian B.M.T., Chipotle Steak and Cheese, and Triple Cheese.
The girls and I stopped for a first taste of the new Subway Paninis before a cheer practice one day, my oldest daughter and I quickly decided on the Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini which did not disappoint.
The twins shared the Triple Cheese Panini and Italian B.M.T. Panini as they could not decide. Sharing half of each was a smart decision, though we all ended up trading the varieties back and forth, so we could all get a sample.
The Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini has a layer of Canadian ham, grilled white meat chicken strips, swiss cheese, baby spinach, and tomatoes with a creamy honey mustard. While you could add or remove ingredients if you wish, I figured they put them together for good reason – and was it ever good!
The Italian B.M.T. Panini has Genoa salami, pepperoni, black forest ham, cheddar cheese, spinach, tomato, red onion and house sandwich sauce. This too was delicious, what a great combination of ingredients!
The Triple Cheese Panini has Cheddar, Swiss and Monterey cheeses – for those that simply love all things cheese. Unlike an ordinary cheese panini, the blends of these specific cheese gives it a spectacular taste. Yet there’s also baby spinach, tomatoes and crunchy red onions on it.
We didn’t try this one but the Chipotle Steak & Cheese Panini features ciabatta bread loaded up with 100 per cent Canadian steak, green peppers, red onions, cheddar cheese and a touch of southwest sauce.
Best of all, all the panini sandwiches are pressed and grilled until golden perfection.
The new Subway paninis are a permanent addition to the menu, available across Canada. Want to sample for yourself? If you are able to catch it, there’s a coast-to-coast initiative called the Panini Express, which is a transparent food truck travelling West all the way from the East Coast to Vancouver.
