Gifts Mom and Baby Really Need – Plus a Free Gift Card Offer

When I was a new Mom, I was very overwhelmed with what baby essentials I needed to have, not only in selection but just the cost! Some baby gear is of no-question such as a stroller, car seat, bottle, blankets and clothes; yet once I had all those must-have items, everything else {especially with experience} fell into place.

I do give much credit and thanks to friends and family for gifting those essentials and the other items though, it very much helped so that I could concentrate on the other fine details that needed to be done or purchased. Even if it was to relax more and enjoy parenthood, instead of rushing to the store for another purchase.

Research from a recent study titled, “Baby Gifting – The Bizarre, the Useful and the Needed” shows some baby gifts, such as a five-speed bike, are quite impractical. It’s also been found that almost half of gift givers {42%} are unaware that they may actually be gifting something completely impractical, oops!

Let’s face it, becoming a parent is such a learning curve in itself, gifts given should be practical since they are literally the helping hands which make every day easier and more efficient.

For those looking for gifts for mom and baby, I do have a few key suggestions:

First of all, find out what they already have, since this will cross possibilities off the list. There’s no harm in asking them what they want and need. Don’t be surprised if you get a polite ‘oh you don’t have to‘ reply, it’s common nature. Yet, insist! Explain that you’d like to give them something they need, and that suggestions are most welcome.

If necessary, have a peek at the baby’s room and take note of what’s in there. Even if it’s to decide on colours and theme of the space, it’s a starting point in choosing that perfect gift. Also, make sure to listen to suggestions in conversation, I complained a lot about the bottles all over the counters before I got a bottle drying rack and it was one of the most helpful items I had, it just helped so much with cleaning and organization.

Since I like to shop and save no matter what I’m purchasing, including gifts for Mom and baby, I’m pleased to share an exciting deal with you!

Personally, I’m all about gifts cards and they would have been very useful when I had babies – you just do so much shopping during that time and every bit helps! I’m not alone either, just over six-in-10 Canadian moms consider gift cards to be useful gifts.

  1. I like to buy some diapers and wipes and a little outfit that is larger sized such as 18 mos.
