Spring Allergy Relief For Kids

Don’t you just love this time of year? After months of Canadian winter we can finally open some windows to hear the birds and feel a somewhat warm breeze on our skin and … Sniff. Sneeze. Cough.

As much as I embrace this time of year, the season embraces me back that’s for sure – with watery and itchy eyes, sneezing and an overall feeling of stuffiness. Yet, it’s spring and those windows are staying open, which means the neighbours will be able to count my sneezes along with me.

Seasonal allergies hit me as soon as the snow starts melting, all that snow mold fills the air and makes its way to me. Then the trees start budding, and the flowers and grass grow – this time of year is such a bittersweet season that can’t be completely without fault. Despite any song the birds may sing in the morning.

Yet, I’m not the only one that suffers through spring allergies, did you know that children of parents who are both allergy sufferers have a 70% chance of suffering from allergies? If one parent has allergies, the child then has a 50% chance of suffering too. Plus, more than one quarter of Canadians experience seasonal allergies. Tissue anyone?

Spring Allergy Relief for Kids

So, recently when I noticed that my daughter was more tired than usual and sniffling a lot – I wasn’t quick to assume she had a cold. With allergies being the third most common chronic condition among children under the age of 18, it’s not surprising that many mistake allergy symptoms for colds.

Since her symptoms matched my own, I knew that seasonal allergies were starting for her as well {insert synchronized sneezing here}. To complicate the issue even more, *allergies lower the immune system and can make way for sinus infections, sore throats, and earaches. [*source]

While it’s great to reduce allergens as much as possible {such as dust in the house}, it’s very hard to do when you literally are surrounded by a world of it. For kids, this is the time of year when they really want to play outside, and fter a long winter indoors – are we parents going to protest? Nope!

For kids aged 2-12, REACTINE® Children’s Liquid is now back in delicious grape flavour, and is a great option for seasonal allergy relief. This easy-to-take liquid starts working on allergy symptoms quickly, providing long-lasting relief for up to 24 hours and does not cause drowsiness.
