As soon as the summer-like weather hit this past week {in Spring!}, along came the urge to just sit on the deck with a beverage and soak in the warm sun. Dishes, cleaning, and a mountain of work was put to the way-side and I simply did what I rarely do anymore – I read.
Usually the bulk of my reading is spent on planes, the perfect way to spend hours above the clouds. Yet when at home, truthfully, there’s so many other things that occupy my time. This is proof that I literally need to be strapped to a seat and forced to take relax and escape the day to day.
That’s kinda sad and somethings gotta change.
My time spent in the sunshine on the deck was enjoyable, so much that I decided to do this more often. Of course, I had some help in my decision {remember, I need to be forced into things sometimes}, with the arrival of the new Kobo Glo HD.
The Kobo Glo HD claims to be the highest quality eReader at the best possible price and after getting acquainted with one – I have to agree. Featuring high-definition and a 6″ touchscreen front-lit display – words are so very crisp and clear on this e-reader. Plus, read in direct sunlight with the anti-glare screen, or in complete darkness with the built-in adjustable ComfortLight.
You see, I’m not a stranger to e-readers, but have always preferred the real-deal. I love having a book in my hands. Plus, with some, the screen and sun-glare makes them hard to read when I need them most, when on vacation. I don’t have those issues with the Kobo Glo HD, as tested in the sun recently, it’s the closest to having that book in hand. I can’t wait to take it along on our next sunny adventure.
Obvious I like my e-readers travel-friendly, which is why I appreciate that the Kobo Glo HD is thin and lightweight. I’ll be testing this out as I go along, but apparently the batter lasts for 2 months {!}, which would be another amazing feature since my others seem to die after hours.
For those impressed by additional fancy features, the Kobo Glo HD also has multi-languages, 11 fonts, 48 text sizes and social media sharing capabilities. Plus there’s more than 4.5 million eBooks and magazines to choose from.
This Mother’s Day, you might need to force her to Relax, escape, and Read with the Kobo Glo HD. To make mom’s day extra special, gift givers can purchase and preload Kobo recommended top-selling mom-themed books onto mom’s new Kobo. Pair with some wine and snacks and she’s set to take in some just-for-her time.
I started reading The Obsession by Nora Roberts, an author which I adore. Purchasing this title from the Kobo bookstore was a fraction of the cost of a book which I’d most likely pick up in the airport. Plus, I’m earning Kobo Super Points, their loyalty program that rewards you for your love of reading.
Here are some other Mother’s Day Book Title Suggestions:
- Anywhere but Here by Mona Simpson ($13.99)
- Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs ($10.99)
- The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls ($12.99)
- The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan ($13.99)
- The Room by Emma Donoghue ($4.99)
The Kobo Glo HD is available nationwide at Best Buy, Indigo, Chapters, Coles, London Drugs, Staples, The Source, Walmart, and online at store.kobobooks.com for a retail price of $139.99 CAD.
