Kitchen Spring Cleaning Checklist

04/11/2016 By Tammi 16 Comments

This post is brought to you by Finish and The Co.

The sun shines, the snow melts, flowers blossom and the clocks spring forward. Spring is all about new beginnings – feels refreshing right? Spring fever and the need to tidy, sort, purge and clean all go along with that transition from winter to spring.

kitchen spring cleaning checklist

Kitchen Spring Cleaning Checklist:

Fridge – Check expiry dates and check for half-empty containers.

Freezer – Just like the fridge, go through items which might have been there too long. You might even find 4 opened bags of vegetables in there! Repackage what needs it, and plan to use the older items first by putting them front and centre. Don’t forget to wash the ice cube trays as well.

Pantry – Check all items’ expiry dates for half-empty products

Countertop – Even though this is an area that is cleaned more often than others in the kitchen, there are areas of the countertop that needs that deep clean.

Oven – While we’re at it, clean the inside of the oven {hopefully you have self-cleaning}. This is a good time to pull out the oven and wash the back and sides of it – along with the floor.

Miscellaneous – Don’t forget to also wash and clean any curtains, baseboards, chair cushions, table legs, floors and windows. As well, those trash and recycling bins could probably use a deep clean after a long winter as well. Hopefully some nice weather allows them to air dry in the sun!

Dishwasher – To get the inside clean without effort at all, use Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. It’s such an easy and effective product to maintain the appliance – and make it sparkle!

To use, simply put the entire bottle upside down onto the dishwasher rack and run on the hottest cycle {like the ‘pots and pans’ cycle}.

Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner works by safely and effectively breaking down and removing mineral build up that’s inside your machine, including hard-to-reach parts like the heating element and sprayer arms.

Check out my before and after photos from my recent use of Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner. Though I should note that my before’s aren’t too filthy since I actually clean the inside of my dishwasher each month as suggested.

After using Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner the inside of my dishwasher was in fact, clean! As well, it had a Citrus scent which made the whole kitchen smell refreshing. If you haven’t yet tried Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner, the perfect time is to include it in your spring cleaning regime!

How often do you deep clean your kitchen?

I try to deep clan my fridge every time I go shopping. Weekends are for cleaning in the Lawler household!

We are actually working on our pantry deep cleaning right now!! It’s taking a few days of working because we can only spare an hour here or there between baby’s feedings and it’s a bigger pantry. So i’m working on it one shelf at a time.
Normally we only deep cleaned when we moved (because we would move about every 2 years) and it would be easy because everything was packed up and out of the way. But now we are finally settled and I realized I need to actually do SPRING cleaning because we aren’t going to just move. It’s a new experience.

I clean the kitchen daily. But deep cleaning happens about every 3 months and man is my freezer over due for a good cleaning!

This is a great list. I need to do some Spring cleaning around the house. I did some cleaning not to long ago, but Spring cleaning is definitely something I need to do. I try to clean often and go through stuff to get rid of as well. I always look at things and think whether I really need them or not..great way to get rid of junk around the home that never gets used.

I love using this product because it is the only one that gets my dishes clean. I also just cleaned out my freezer the other day!

It is important to remember to clean the cleaning products we have at our homes. They work better when they are clean.

The one thing I am dreading spring cleaning in my kitchen is my stove. I need to pull it out and clean behind it, but scared of what I might find under it!
