The Algonquin Resort in New Brunswick

During our stay in New Brunswick, we spent some time in St. Andrews by the Sea. It was a lovely town that totally captured my heart with so much to see and do.

Yet, a big part of my love for this location had to do with our accommodations. Here is the incredible Algonquin Resort.

This iconic resort features a tudor-style main building, which is very castle-like. It has elegant verandas, a rooftop terrace and impeccable gardens – a Canadian hotel that is so very unique.

For our stay, we had two connecting studio rooms, which were most likely the most posh and comfortable rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Not only was the generous layout perfect for our family, complete with kitchenette area, yet it was the little touches that make your stay feel so special.

I would hesitate to live in this suite if I could, the beds were beyond comfortable and each little aspect is stunning.

Looking back on my photos from the entire trips, there’s a huge number from The Algonquin Resort. I did not want to forget one ounce of this aspect in our family travel vacation.

With heated floors, flat-screen TV’s, iPod docks and spa-like essentials waiting for your arrival – there isn’t much else a guest could need.

Some of the suites are located in the older part of the resort, while ours was in the new wing. I had the chance to check out a room in the older area of the hotel and they are just as up to date as ours, without the kitchen area – yet all the fine signature details are the same. Some rooms also have some have pull-out sofas and fireplaces.

The Algonquin Resort features a restaurants and bars, a fitness center, spa, tennis courts {with complimentary equipment rental}, bike rentals to tour St. Andrews. Free parking and wifi is one of the many amenities guests will appreciate. As well, there’s coffee and tea in the room and lobby refreshments as well.

It also has an indoor pool with hot tub, and a three-story water-slide that can be used year round.

When the weather is nice, head outdoors to the lovely pool area that also offers a waiter to cater to your every need.

At night this is where the fire pit area is, offering a quiet refuge to gaze upon the resort lit up at night. It’s quite breathtaking. For larger groups staying for a special occasion, this is a prime place to gather and converse. You can even borrow a resort guitar and enjoy s’mores if you wish! Or, stop and play the piano in the green!

This pet-friendly hotel caters to your furry family members as well. When staying here with your pet, enjoy a walking map, access to pet bowls, and a special Algonquin collar tag to keep as a memento.

Built in 1889, The Algonquin Resort’s reputation is tremendous not only for its style and luxury yet also for its tremendous history. I urge you to read up on the history of the Algonquin Resort and see another reason why my interest was so great during our stay.

Past guests include royalty and members of the elite, to celebrities like Stephen King who stayed here to write The Shining … make the connection? If you want to hear the entire story, book a night walking tour at the front desk and prepare for goosebumps. If you are really curious {and somewhat brave}, you can request to stay in famed room 473 though it’s one that books up fast.

From the breathtaking architecture to the rich history, upscale amenities to the luxurious furnishings – the Algonquin Resort is top-notch hotel, a true Canadian gem. It’s ideal accommodations for a lovely getaway for couples, large groups, and families.

We very much hope to be back one day!

Wow! I had never heard of St. Andrews by the Sea or the Algonquin Resort, but as soon as I head the name, I thought, I bet it’s some lovely, posh heritage building. It seems so, but with ALL the comforts of home – and then some! 🙂 Heated floors? WOW!

We stayed there a few years ago when they were just starting renovations in the older part. It was really nice. They didn’t have as much service then as most of the hotel wasn’t open, but it was very posh.

Ps. I love the shape of that headboard.

Loved your review and all the comments here. My mother grew up in St. Andrews-By-the-Sea and I’ve been fortunate to visit this jewel of a town a number of times throughout my growing up years. My family and I are truly looking forward to a stay at the beautiful Algonquin Resort this summer!
