Nintendo Launches Super Mario Maker

We’ve always been big Super Mario fans in this house, I and my husband were avid players as kids, and his adventures haven’t wavered since as we play together as a family now. There’s big news in the gaming community – the new Super Mario Maker video game has now been released for the Wii U gamepad!

Nintendo Launches Super Mario Maker

With Super Mario Maker, YOU build the game levels, and anyone with an Internet connection can play a near-limitless number of Mario levels created by people all over the world.

To build your game simply drag and drop key elements seen in a Super Mario game {using items, enemies, graphical styles and even power-ups} using the Wii U controller’s touch screen. The available set of tools and options increase with more game play.

Choices for gameplay are from four Mario styles: the classic Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U. In addition to the four game styles, players can set their levels in six themes: above ground, underground, ghost house, airship, castle and even underwater.

Check out out review video, which really only scratches the surface since this game is so vast with options!

Once players have built and passed their created level, they can be uploaded online and shares with players everywhere.

A robust online ranking and search system makes creating, playing and sharing in Super Mario Maker a seamless process. Want to know which levels are easy or hard? A helpful course-difficulty display is determined by the percentage of players that complete the level.

Players can also see new arrivals and “master makers” {creators that upload the highest-ranking levels}. Players can even create a “Follow” list to keep an eye on submissions from the level creators they like the most. This makes Super Mario Maker great for all ages and skills.

Super Mario Maker gets points for originality yet also solves many of the common issues when it comes to video games. Frustrated with certain levels, and bored with others – with Super Mario Maker there are no boundaries for game play and what wasn’t possible before – now is!

Super Mario Maker launches exclusively for Wii U in stores for $69.99. It comes with an idea book that illustrates the boundless possibilities of the game and other behind the scenes info. For digital games purchased through the Nintendo eShop on Wii U, players will receive access to a PDF version of the booklet. The PDF is also available to download from the game’s website for anyone, even if they have not purchased the game.

There is also a Super Mario Maker Wii U bundle complete with Wii U – both of which are perfect for holiday gifting this year.

I remember playing Super Mario and it was a lot of fun. I think this game is much better for children than some of the ones I see them playing. This new, improved version gives players lots of choices and is as easy or difficult as you choose. Kudos for the people who made something old ‘new ‘ again.
