This past week I spent the holiday season with my family. Holiday train rides, ice sculptures, light tours, entertaining, Santa stuff … you know the drill. In the midst of getting prepped for ‘everything holidays’, I didn’t have a chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I do hope it was amazing for you all!
For the first time ever, we not only hosted Christmas Eve appetizer night but we ALSO hosted Christmas Day and the big dinner too. So between shopping, cooking, baking, wrapping, stuffing, mixing, and stressing over every last detail – “where are heck are those napkins I bought last month?!” – I was kinda busy drowning in chaos.
Yet, the holidays are over and I survived. Also, dinner was good. Really good. *Relief*
Another super Christmas miracle? Elfie, our Elf on the Shelf, didn’t miss one night of getting moved all December. Not one night. Now that is something to be celebrated!
It’s now post Christmas and I find myself in an intense purge-mode every day. I have urges to clean, sort through drawers, clean out cupboards, declutter, and rearrange rooms. Perhaps it’s the new year looming or my way of finding that ‘normal’ after such a crazy holiday season.
When not purging, I balance it out with a lot of binge-watching TV series on Netflix. I huddle in a corner of the house and completely zone out for a while, again my way of calming the holiday storm.
While I do have some behind-the-scenes work to tackle, for the most part I’m offline and unplugged until the new year. I honestly can’t even remember the last time I unplugged … But, this recovery is needed, and not just for the purge & binge happenings either. In the midst of it all, I’m truly enjoying the moments that otherwise fly by during other times of the year. Like cuddling up to a movie with my girls, in their new fleece onesies. Ignoring the phone, the dishes, the laundry and just … being.
Once again, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and were blessed with love, cheer and great food. May those blessings continue as we head into the new year – 2015!
*Raising a glass* Wishing you all a Happy New Year, cheers!

Good for you, I was unplugged for a bit this month and wish I could do more but deadlines will not allow me to do so! I love the breaks though! Have a happy new year!

So happy that Christmas was good, although obviously very busy, for you and your family. we had a quieter Christmas this year but a busier Boxing Day. Some family members were ill and others were away so it was a little different . Things are slowly getting back to ‘normal’, whatever that is. Hope life is good to you and yours in this coming New Year.

Good for you! I took a few days off over Christmas but blogging is a bit of an addiction for me! lol! Its like journal that the entire world has access too! lol I think we were 0 of the number of times, Thompson, our Elf on the Shelf was forgotten! That is a HUGE feat at Christmas time! I have DH to thank for that this year as I was run ragged! lol

Chaos abounds in my home during the holiday season. I did Christmas Eve and Christmas day for our family as I do most years and as much as it is stressful I also truly love it! I’m like you and just need a week or so recovery time and a little peace and quiet before I get back to the hustle and bustle of my daily routine. Enjoy your time unplugged and have an absolutely wonderful New Year!

I bit off a lot this holiday season also. I loved every second of it though. I am happy that things have calmed down, and things are going back to normal.

With all the guests to be fed it was easy to unplug this year, and got easier the longer I was. Very refreshing! Happy New Year to you and yours!

Happy Holidays and Happy New year to you and your family as well! I too have the urge to purge my home after the holidays.. As much as I am not a ‘resolution’ person, I do love the idea of a clean slate and the opportunities it can bring!

I totally agree. Have fun being unplugged for a while.

Cheers Tammi! Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family! I tried to not overdo it this year, and we found unplugging was really the best way. We baked, made cookies, and reconnected with the simpler things that make Christmas. I found the constant bombardment of Holiday ads on TV (one started before Halloween) too much this year, so we unplugged and watched movies. It helped connect us again with the true meaning of Christmas 🙂

That sounds like exciting chaos! We don’t do much at all during the holidays, we’ll have to try and experience more. Thank you for the ideas! Happy New Year! 🙂
