This past week I spent the holiday season with my family. Holiday train rides, ice sculptures, light tours, entertaining, Santa stuff … you know the drill. In the midst of getting prepped for ‘everything holidays’, I didn’t have a chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I do hope it was amazing for you all!
For the first time ever, we not only hosted Christmas Eve appetizer night but we ALSO hosted Christmas Day and the big dinner too. So between shopping, cooking, baking, wrapping, stuffing, mixing, and stressing over every last detail – “where are heck are those napkins I bought last month?!” – I was
kinda busy drowning in chaos.
Yet, the holidays are over and I survived. Also, dinner was good. Really good. *Relief*
Another super Christmas miracle? Elfie, our Elf on the Shelf, didn’t miss one night of getting moved all December. Not one night. Now that is something to be celebrated!
It’s now post Christmas and I find myself in an intense purge-mode every day. I have urges to clean, sort through drawers, clean out cupboards, declutter, and rearrange rooms. Perhaps it’s the new year looming or my way of finding that ‘normal’ after such a crazy holiday season.
When not purging, I balance it out with a lot of binge-watching TV series on Netflix. I huddle in a corner of the house and completely zone out for a while, again my way of calming the holiday storm.
While I do have some behind-the-scenes work to tackle, for the most part I’m offline and unplugged until the new year. I honestly can’t even remember the last time I unplugged … But, this recovery is needed, and not just for the purge & binge happenings either. In the midst of it all, I’m truly enjoying the moments that otherwise fly by during other times of the year. Like cuddling up to a movie with my girls, in their new fleece onesies. Ignoring the phone, the dishes, the laundry and just … being.
Once again, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and were blessed with love, cheer and great food. May those blessings continue as we head into the new year – 2015!
*Raising a glass* Wishing you all a Happy New Year, cheers!
