Maple Apple Crisp

09/25/2014 By Tammi 54 Comments

Happy Fall everyone! My change in season was marked with a dear friend bringing me a 5 gallon pail of apples. Sound familiar? Right now my Facebook feed is filled with statuses asking who’s got some to spare and apple recipes – tis the season for apples right now!

Best Ever Maple Apple Crisp Recipe

I only had to think for a minute about what I was going to do with all these apples. I’m cooking most to make pie filling and then freeze individual portions for later. That way, when I feel like making pie, I’ll have the filling ready to go which is such a time and energy saver later.

Best Ever Maple Apple Crisp Recipe

To make apple pie filling: my friend suggests cooking a pot-full of {peeled, cored and sliced} apples with about 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water. After about 15-20 minutes of cooking, set it aside to cool. Then once cooled, spoon the mixture into zippered bags and freeze. Sounds easy enough, right? I’m going to try it!

I also had big plans on getting on that cozy sweater and settling in on the couch with
Maple Apple Crisp. It just screams ‘Autumn’, doesn’t it?

Best Ever Maple Apple Crisp Recipe

Usually I make my Apple Crisp with brown sugar and sometimes with caramel, yet this recipe includes maple syrup and it’s a delicious version. Definitely a must try! I love that this recipe makes enough for 2, and you can easily double the recipe to make more. About 5 minutes to prepare and 25 to cook – you’re enjoying Maple Apple Crisp in no time! Dollop with cool whip or vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

What is your favourite fall recipe to make using fresh apples?

My favorite recipe is very simple. I love making oatmeal with apple in it. The secret to awesome apple oatmeal? Mace. Add some mace, and it’s like eating an apple pie.
