I am an Egg Champion!

I’ll start off with this statement: I totally love eggs.

I mean, is there a more versatile food? On it’s own in countless ways, a baking staple and a necessity in many main dish recipes. Eggs are one food that we cannot be without in our home – ever.

Egg Champion

Which is why I’m happy to announce that I’ll be wearing a new hat – I am an egg champion ambassador and have partnered with Egg Farmers of Canada to share a lot of egg-tastic goodies with you in the coming months.

While you have most likely heard of Egg Farmers of Canada {‘Get Cracking’ ring a bell?}, but do you know exactly what this organization is?

Egg Farmers of Canada is a not-for-profit organization that helps hard-working Canadian farmers supply Canadians with fresh, local, high-quality eggs. Egg Farmers of Canada manages the national egg supply and promotes egg consumption while representing the interests of over 1,000 regulated egg farmers in all ten provinces and the Northwest Territories.

So, they manage the egg supply for Canadians and promote egg consumption. This is where we as consumers come in, since they also assist farmers all across Canada by promoting eggs in various ways.

Eggs.ca is a site that offers much, like how-to videos and tips for cooking with eggs. Yet I especially frequent the fantastic recipes on eggs.ca.

Really, this is the motherload of egg recipes people, bookmark and get cozy because I know you’ll love at first browse.

back-to-school-recipes-for-kids

During the month of September, Egg Farmers of Canada is sharing quick and easy back to school recipes for kids. I know we all need help in that department, right?

I especially love the Bagel ‘n’ Egg Melts, the egg salad recipe can be made ahead of time making lunch on the fly possible. This open-faced sandwich is a quick meal for everyone to enjoy, taking minutes to make. Plus, it’s so versatile so you can change it up to suit your tastes.

BagelEggMelts-kids-school-recipe

My oldest is just starting to make her way around the kitchen and loves being an active helper when making meals. So, for the past year I’ve been teaching her some cooking basics and we’re now at the point where she wants to cook some things on her own. What’s one of the easiest and most versatile things to make? Eggs!

ToadInTheHole

She spotted the Eggs in a Hole recipe on Eggs.ca and has now added that one to her list of ‘I can make this myself!’. Simple, delicious and nutritious, it’s a fun way to fix up an all-time favourite to get kids jazzed about eating.

So, here’s to the start of wonderful things to come, I’m excited to dive into the world of #CanadianEggs {along with fellow ambassadors {along with Tara and Cheryl}} and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of eggs although I do love my deviled eggs, egg salad sandwiches and Egg in a Hole breakfast. It’s one ingredient that’s versatile yet easy to make.

OMGosh – I haven’t make Eggs in a Hole in eons. It used to be a favorite of my kids. I love boiled eggs and egg salad and fried eggs, and omelets. (although I’m not great at making them). I’m also glad that eggs are no longer getting a “bad rap” like they did for a while.

Eggs are a staple in our household. I buy the Omega-3 eggs, so I know the cholesterol in them helps us instead of hurts us.

We go through a lot of eggs at our house. Contrary to popular belief, if you get the right kind of eggs, the cholesterol in them is actually good for you. Plus eggs are the most easily absorbed protein source.
