Taking Care of Dad

My husband is severely outnumbered with the 4 girls in this house. He often jokes that we need a few male dogs to even things out, yet I know he wouldn’t change our family of 5 {with 4 girls} for anything in this world.

Recall my previous Taking Care of my People post? Well, June is the month to celebrate Dad, so I thought I’d pay a little homage to this special occasion and talk about Taking Care of Dad.

Not meaning to be stereotypical or cliche, but it is true that Dad {at least in this house} is the one that kiss boo boos, open jars, kill spiders and put up with a whole lot of estrogen! We need to take care of this important part of the family Again – killing spiders? My hero!

I don’t do a ‘what to buy for Father’s Day’ round-up post here, since I always say that gifting really depends on the individual. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to gifting, even when it comes to the men in our lives. People always give clues to what they want and need, if you listen and make note of it. Keeping this in mind, always, makes the gifting stress much easier when the time comes.

For example, we are a family that loves smoothies, and this is especially true for my husband. While the kids and I might forget a day or two here and there, it’s my husband who always reaches for his ND Shake made with frozen mixed berries each.and.every.day. Not one day missed.

So, when he pauses to look at the blenders and juicers while out shopping – I take notice. See? It’s less about the asking and more about picking up on the tiniest of details.

This Father’s Day we’ll be taking care of Dad by showering him with kisses and hugs, homemade cards, making sure that freezer is stocked with berries for his smoothie and perhaps presenting him with that extra special dessert after dinner.

What are your Father’s Day plans?

It’s great that you’ve been paying attention. We made my husband a candy poster story board last year. It was a huge success.

It is so true about not one size fits all.
I listen to little cues from the hubs too and I hope I can get him something that makes him know I’m thinking about him.

HOpe you find the right thing for your love too πŸ™‚

My dad is a big fisherman so he always loves when we take the boat out as a family and go fishing. Hopefully the weather will be able to cooperate for that and possibly a picnic πŸ™‚
