Berry Good Smoothie Recipe with an Orange Naturals

In my efforts to make small healthy changes this year, I have gotten into the {good} habit of having breakfast. While I’m not one for huge meals first thing in the morning, it’s good to have something nutritious in order to give myself the best start to the day. I do find that when doing this, I have more energy, snack less mid-afternoon and feel better throughout the whole day.

One thing I reach for more often than not, is a smoothie. It’s an easy way to get those vitamins and whole foods into my tummy. I try and mix up the contents daily, to ensure a good variety of fresh foods. Yet there’s one constant to all my smoothies – Orange Naturals ND Shakes and now I’m adding tinctures.

The Orange Naturals Tinctures that I’m using are Holy Basil and Rhodiola. I’m using these to combat fatigue, maximize my sleep time and increase energy.

I’m hypothyroid and am on Synthroid medication {for about 20 years now} and though my doctor claims that my Thyroid levels are average-low  {where he wants them to be}, I still feel incredibly tired most of the day and experience many symptoms that my levels are lower than where they are.

So, these tinctures are helping me regain some of that energy naturally without adjusting my medication. Rhodiola especially, since it’s a wonderful adaptogen that helps support the adrenal gland {which is your stress gland} and oftentimes people with hypothyroid also have low adrenal function. Rhodiola helps respond to stress and give energy and stamina. So, it’s like a little booster for me, exactly what I need.

Holy Basil and Rhodiola each have a LOT of benefits {like increased mental performance}, so I urge you to take a peek at the links and have a read. I’ve only started using these tinctures a few days ago, and will be sure to report back with my thoughts after a longer period has passed.

So, back to the delicious topic of smoothies! Did you see that ND Shakes was featured on the Global Morning Show and aired on Steven and Chris on April 18th. Check out the smoothie creations that were featured!

One of my favourite smoothies to have is loaded with berries and their antioxidants, I like to call it a Berry Good Smoothie.

So, I get my {naturally} daily dose of women’s vitamins, tincture goodness AND all the benefits of fruit and berries. Whether you use the Vanilla or the chocolate ND Shake, it’s such a delicious smoothie!

  • 1/4 cup raspberries
