Taste of Nature Bars : Take the Pledge to Snack Healthy

I am on a mission this year to make small changes. Drink more water, get more sleep and make better choices when it comes to food and snacks. I don’t have a massive resolution per say, I just believe that small steps do make a huge difference. My goal is to feel better overall and set a good example for my kids. Anyone else have the same goals?

The hardest part has been the snacking as I am the type to head for that pantry at the first sight of stress and boredom. To combat the habit and start the change, we’ve really upped the fresh vegetables in this house. Each Sunday I shop and chop – making fresh veggie snack-sized portions readily available all week. That was one step in the right direction as we’ve all learned to really enjoy fresh and crisp vegetables.

Yet, sometimes all the veggies in the world just don’t cut it, and I NEED something sweet or salty. While it’s a start, I realistically can’t rely on just celery sticks and pepper strips for snacks. I need a filling and hearty snack option, to avoid indulging on something high in fat and calories like chips and chocolate bars.

Taste-of-Nature-Bars

I was recently introduced to Taste of Nature bars, made with 100% certified organic fruit and nuts. They’re Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher and certified Gluten-Free. They come in 13 varieties and so far I’ve tried 3: Louisiana Pecan Parade, Quebec Cranberry Carnival and Brazilian Nut Fiesta.

When I first tried Taste of Nature Bars, the first thing I did was read the ingredient list. Not only did I recognize each and every ingredient, yet I was amazed at all the ‘goodness’ that was jam-packed into each and every one.

For instance, Louisiana Pecan Parade contains: pecans, cashews, dried cherries {cherries, apple juice, sunflower oil}, agave nectar, whole grain crisp brown rice, brown rice syrup, cherry flavor, pomegranate juice concentrate. If you notice, the dried fruit is sweetened with fruit and not sugar!

At less than 200 calories per Taste of Nature bar, they are also low in sodium, contain monounsaturated fats {which are good for you}, are are an excellent source of fibre and protein. This, combined with a {certified} low GI means that this snack is filling! I have one and I’m not hungry again right away, enough to tie me over until dinner. This has really helped me stay away from the pantry and reaching for unhealthy snacks.

It’s important to note that I *wasn’t* much of a ‘bar’ person, past ones I’ve tried left little to be desired for taste. Taste of Nature bars are so good and now I look forward to this healthy snack each day. You can say that I’ve taken the pledge to healthy snacking for 2014, and my oldest has too! Many times a week she has cheerleading after school, meaning a later dinner. I love that she’s reaching for Taste of Nature before her class, to give her energy and fill her tummy until she’s able to sit down to dinner. Healthy snacking is important, especially for athletic kids.

A recent survey reveals that nearly all Canadians snack {95%}. We admit that our snacking habits are not as healthy as they should be, and we are unwilling to sacrifice taste. Since Canadians want to snack better {only 10% say the snacks they typically eat are extremely healthy}, Taste of Nature wants to help inspire healthier snack choices and make a snack pact.

Taste of Nature would like you to visit their Facebook page before February 28th and Take the Pledge to Snack Healthy! When you do make that pledge you’ll be entered to win a daily draw for a yoga mat and $55 worth of Taste of Nature bars!

  114. You have made some really good points there. I looked on the web for additional
information about the issue and found most individuals will
go along with your views on this website.

  115. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the page layout of
your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text
for only having 1 or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
