Stonz Winter Bootz

Last week resembled the definition of weather here in Alberta. It was a warm 20°C one day and 2 days later, -15°C. The morning resembled Fall and the next there’s a blizzard out my window. As much I try to organize the chaos and be prepared for anything, it’s something that’s always a work in progress.

For example: I was packing for my daughters Girl Guides weekend campout, and realized she had to bring Winter boots on the trip. It didn’t even cross my mind, since we literally wore sandals just last week. So, I checked the forecast and sure enough, a snowstorm was heading our way.

Stonz, the rockin’ Canadian company, literally saved the day and prevented that last minute trip to the store. A pair of Winter Bootz for my oldest arrived at the door, literally while we were packing {I love it when that happens!}.

I snapped this pic as she excitedly put them on and went outside. Notice the lack of snow?

This is 2 days later, all of it from an overnight dump! You’d think we were thrust right into January  *shaking fists at the freak snowstorm*.

Moral of the story: Be prepared, people!

Do you know about Stonz?

Chances are you’ve seen the tinier versions for babies at boutique stores, they.are.adorable. Thing is, Stonz makes a whole variety of products, and Winter boots {or Bootz as they call them} are one such product by the brand.

“The Story Behind Stonz Booties
As an active mom based on Canada’s wet and rugged West Coast, Lisa discovered that finding warm footwear for her young kids was near impossible. With her five-month old son in a backpack, Lisa resorted to wrapping scarves around her son’s legs to keep him warm. When she met another mom with a boot that looked a lot like a fleece-lined chalk bag (which was made-by-hand for her child), Lisa instantly knew that these booties could fill a need in the market. Together, they created some booties samples – made with a fleece lined inner and a coated nylon exterior. The booties were designed with stylish appliqués, soft soles for a custom fit, and toggles at both the calf and ankle so that they stayed on.

After five years in business, the Stonz team knows that they are meeting a real need. They are constantly delighted to hear from parents and grandparents from all over who are enjoying the booties – just as Stonz intended.”

The first thing you have to know about Stonz Winter Bootz is that they can withstand temperatures as low as -50°C/-58°F. HOORAY!

 stonz winter bootz review myorganizedchaos

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is for us Albertans to find boots labelled to be the ‘winter type’ in stores, that are only warm until -10°C …. ok, that could be Spring, Summer or Fall but definitely not Winter. Fashion boots perhaps, yet we need real Winter boots that fight back against the mean elements that yes, on a windy day can be pretty close to -50°C. Sad reality …

We need Stonz Bootz!

Lightweight with a slip resistant sole, Stonz Bootz for kids have sizing up to 14 years of age and have a MSRP of $54.99-$63.99 CAD.

These Bootz are most friendly to gloves or freezing fingers, since they feature a Velcro and clip closure {LOVE}. This boot is so easy for my daughter to get on and off, with no fumbling, tying or zipping. This is something that will be highly appreciated when the temps plunge further.

Here in MI we get plenty of snow and the kids would live in it if you let them. I love how they can handle temps that are SO cold. It ould make me feel better about letting the kids play out longer with these on.

Oh those boots look fantastic! My middle son needs new boots this year! I’m a bit nervous cause running to the store to pick up boots mean I will have to replace them in a month or two, cause our stores never carry quality boots. These look like they are a much higher quality than what our stores have.

I’ve heard such great things about Stonz boots but I’ve never had the chance to actually see what they’re like! My oldest son could use some new boots, so maybe this year is the year!

these sound like a very good boot. Especially important is that the children can get them on and off on their own and they look good too.

I also hate “cold weather boots” that don’t actually keep your feet warm and dry, and the winter weather where I live isn’t nearly as treacherous as where you live! Those boots are really stylish for kids too.

These look like great boots, and affordable! It’s hard to find a good pair of winter boots it seems.

I am also from Alberta, so I totally understand the need to be prepared! I keep my winter boots in my Jeep year round! It is too bad that the boots are only for kids, would have loved to grab a pair for myself!!
