Monsters University on Blu-ray and DVD

Our family seen Monsters University in theatres this year, and it quickly became one of our favourite animated films of all time. Perhaps it’s the funny characters, unique storyline – in any case, it’s one that definitely had be added to our movie library.

The film is the second after Monsters Inc. but takes the same characters {with the addition of new ones}, and goes way back to the university days to tell the story of how monsters become ‘a scarer’.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. “Monsters University” bravely explores themes of self-discovery and the revelations that come with growing up.

As always, my girls watch the bonus features right after one viewing of the film. They were all very interested in the Deleted Scenes, learning why some of the scenes made the film while others didn’t. Having visited the animation studios before and taking ‘lessons’ from real Disney animators, I always love learning about the art of making animated characters. Scare games is another feature that my girls love!

Monsters University is in stores now, on multi-formats including Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD & Digital Copy. It would make an excellent Christmas gift for your little Monsters fan {adults are included here}. We’ve watched this a couple times now on family movie night, and I know they weren’t the last.
