Once Upon A Time

Once upon A Time is a TV show that I have watched from the very beginning. Right from the first episode it had a great storyline, fantastic actors and I loved the feeling of nostalgia as I was thrown into the world of fairy tales once again.

Just a few months ago, and just before the end of the second season, my oldest daughter {Isabelle} started asking if she could watch as well. She caught the commercials and like a magnet, she was SO interested in the series. After some begging on her part, she started watching it with me and that time-slot on ABC became ‘our’ time of the week {and the first time we both HAD to watch a show together regularly}.

Just Mother and daughter, we chatted about the storyline on days it wasn’t on, and counted down to the nights when it was on. I loved this time together with my girl, then Season 2 ended.

Isabelle has TONS of questions about the events before she started watching and became so impatient for Season 3 to start this Fall. I decided Summer was the perfect time to go back to Season 1 and re-watch with her. It would fill the time, answer her questions and give us our special time over the Summer months as well.

This is where I have to give thanks to my friends at Click Comm, as they sent us Once Upon A Time Season One The Complete First Season after I inquired about this Blu-ray package which came out last year.

While we already watched many episodes to fill the time for the past 2 weeks of rain {Alberta got A TON}, we have more episodes to enjoy before the new season starts. For downtime, quiet-time,  days of rain and especially since most of the ‘good tv’ is saved for Fall and there isn’t a whole lot to watch over Summer.

Isabelle is completely hooked and in the most unexpected way, Once Upon A Time brought us closer as Mother and Daughter. Years ago, I remember sitting down with my Mom once a week and watching Dallas with her, at first for something to do {and because she would NOT let me change the channel}. Yet soon I was interested in the show, and Dallas became ‘our thing’ to do. These days, I hear of the show and think of her and smile.

One day my daughter will think the same of Once Upon A Time, I’m sure. That connection makes me deliriously happy, and I’ll hold onto to this and our time together as long as I can.

Have you watched Once Upon A Time Yet? Who’s a fan as well?

Season 3 of Once Upon A Time will start airing this Fall and Season 2 will be available in stores this August. Now is the perfect time to grab Season 1 and get yourself caught up, just like we are doing.

As well, it’s a series that you’ll want to purchase. In our case, I know one day my twins will want to see it. It’s the kind of show that will interest them, I know it already. So, we’ll be getting all the seasons on Blu-ray form now on, for our collection.

  7. I <3 Once Upon a Time! I watched all of Season 1 and then watched Season 2 right up until the first of February. We moved then and I got behind and tried to watch it again but it was hard catching up. So I'm just waiting for Season 2 to come out on DVD so I can get caught up for season 3. I know what you mean about the rain! We moved to Fort Mac and had flooding here which I guess is very unusual for this area. Nothing like what Southern Alberta got though. πŸ™
