Do you know a Mom that deserves recognition for what they do or who they are? It’s time to celebrate the Moms in our lives!
Walmart Canada has launched their second annual Mom of the Year Award to help celebrate and recognize the huge contribution moms make as role models and integral members of the family and community. This award will become an annual program to celebrate all that Mom does and shine a light on what is important to her.
Nominations will be accepted now through to June 16th, 2013 and can be submitted through www.momoftheyear.ca. They can come from daughters, sons, family members, friends, colleagues or community members. New this year is the My Finalist public voting from July 4 through August 1. This is where Canadians can review the top 20 candidates and vote for one mom they want to see become one of the eight finalists.
The 8 Walmart Mom of the Year Award finalists will be notified around August 6th and will then be flown to Toronto for a day of pampering and an awards gala on October 5, 2013.
The Mom of the Year will receive $10,000 to spend on themselves and $100,000 for the charity or cause of her choice. Another seven finalists will receive $10,000 for the charity or cause of their choice. What amazing donations to charities!
Last year, Schulz’s donation benefitted Cystic Fibrosis Canada, an organization she volunteers for in support of her daughter who is living with the genetic disorder. I followed this campaign from start to finish last year and was deeply touched by the outpour nominations. I cannot wait to again read the nominations this year and cheer on the finalists.
Right now there’s over 20k nominations for this award, that’s a lot of touching stories right there. I’m sure we can all think of a certain inspiring person – head on over to Mom of the Year and nominate, there’s still time.
