Adventures in Zambezia : Now Out on Blu-ray and DVD

zambezia movie review mom blogger

My girls are ‘repeat movie offenders’, meaning they can watch their faves time {and time} again. So, when a ‘new one’ lands on our doorstep, we are all excited. One of my favorite things to-do, is to snuggle in and watch a movie with the family.

A new to us movie that we recently watched from Sony Pictures called Adventures in Zambezia, which is now in stores on Blu-ray and DVD. Have a peek!

When a spirited young falcon named Kai (Jeremy Suarez, TV’s “The Bernie Mac Show”) learns of Zambezia, the fabulous city of birds, he leaves his remote country home against the wishes of his father (Samuel L. Jackson). But when his dad is captured by an evil lizard who plans to attack the city, Kai must learn the importance of teamwork if he’s to rescue his father, save his new friends and help keep Zambezia lizard free. Also stars: Abigail Breslin, Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nimoy give voice to this beautifully animated fun-filled adventure the whole family will enjoy.

The first thing you’ll notice about this film is it’s vibrant and beautiful colors, the animation is definitely eye-catching and considering the locale, pretty breathtaking. The music, the laughter – everything combined kept the kids’ stares for the duration.

The story centers around the falcon Kai, who craves and seeks adventure. Despite making his own wishes, he soon learns the importance of teamwork, bravery, community and family. The girls really enjoyed this film, laughing often and then a day later, requesting to watch it again.

It’s a great choice for family movie night, car trips for the kids and as an addition to the collection to watch time and again!
