Picture Books from Scholastic Canada

The twins love it when I read them a book … that has fun and attention-capturing illustrations. My girls recently got a couple of great picture books from Scholastic Canada which fit the bill well.

Entertaining stories with pictures that keep their interest and get them involved in the story with questions and comments on what they see. More than a story, it engages their skills so much.

It really does make this Mom happy to see all of my girls get so excited over books {says the gal who’s nose was stuck in a book all throughout the school years}.

Mostly for bedtimes in our house, books are also read for quiet times at home and for taking in the car. In fact, my kids cruise while gazing at books more often than requesting that a DVD be put on.

Looking for some stocking stuffer suggestions, for those aged 3-8? Check out these 2 titles, both adored by my kids:

Finding Christmas by Robert Munsch and Michael Martchenko

Make it a very Munsch Christmas with this whimsical story based on Mr. Munsch’s own family! When his daughter Julie was young she ALWAYS found her gifts before Christmas, making her parents get very creative with their hiding places. While not every part of this story is true, it definitely is a wonderful gift from the Munsch family to yours.

** My oldest collects Robert Munsch books {her all-time fave}, so this one is a highly treasured book!

Wishes by Jean Little and Geneviève Côté

What better time of year to than this to make wishes? In this darling rhyming story, by Jean Little, kids and grown-ups are encouraged to celebrate their wishes, no matter how silly they might be!

2012 Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway

Wishes sounds great. When it comes to the small kids in this family, it is really tricky to buy a book they have not read. All of them love books!
