Ever heard of CardSwap.ca?
Some may say that giving gift cards for present is the ‘easy way out’. To that I say, bring it on!
Face it; some people are hard to shop for, are terribly picky or you just have no idea what to get them. I’ve been there and likewise, I’ve been at a loss of suggestions for gifting to myself.
My motto? When it doubt: gift card!
Really, it’s applicable for babies to adults, just let them pick for themselves. That way if they don’t love their gift bought from the card, it’s not your fault! Yet chances are they are going to use it on something they’ve always wanted.
Plus, it gives them the freedom to browse the store and open their minds to something they wouldn’t have noticed before {when rushing through that store with 3 kids and a master list and plan of get in and get out}.
Sure you can purchase gift cards pretty much anywhere these days, but why not buy them and reward yourself at the same time? Now I’m talkin’!
I’m familiar with CardSwap.ca, I’ve actually talked about this company and website on My Organized Chaos before. Yet, something is different. There has been a change. And it’s wonderful!
It’s called SwapPoints!
So, if I were to buy a $50 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card and have it mailed to my house {free shipping, of course}, I’d also get 100 SwapPoints. Collect those points to ‘buy’ another gift card down the road, or just cash out via PayPal.
Likewise is true when you sell gift cards {have that unwanted GC laying around that you know you’ll never use?}, you earn points for selling at CardSwap.ca as well. Win-Win!
This is perfect if you purchase gift cards on a regular basis, yet lets take this one step farther. If you regularly shop at certain stores, or eat at certain restaurants – you could literally buy gift cards for your own use, AND earn SwapPoints just for doing your usual shopping.
One Canadian reader will get credit to shop for $75 worth of Gft Cards from CardSwap.ca!

I am pretty sure that this post will not be presented here, but here goes anyway.
I contacted Cardswap through their website to sell a $ 500.00 Fairmont Hotel gift card.
They gave me a quote and requested that I send the card by registered mail to them, which I did (fee $ 10.00).
Once they received my card a volley of questions came to me to find out if the card was actually mine and if the value of the card was as I had stated. I provided the requested proof and even suggested that they contact Fairmont Hotel through their website to prove the value and that the card was indeed active.
It seems that they were not serious in their dealings as they decided (of course only after I had send them my card) that they were not interested.
Why make someone waste their time and money if they were not truly interested.
I finally received my card back, but will never use or suggest their service to anyone.
By the way, they even went so far as to request that I provide them with a valid credit card number.
For me that was the last straw; I sent them my $ 500.00 gift card and still they want me to give a credit card number!
Needless to say, I will never use their so called service in the future.
