First Visit {Wordless Wednesday With Linky}

The twins had their first ever dentist appointment last week, a ‘friendly visit’ as they like to call them. All went well and they have been asking to go back, there’s one less ‘parenting thing’ to worry about!

Do your kids like going to the dentist?

  2. They didn’t like it the first time! Mica was sick the first time. I found that out after he went. He got the stomach flu. Isaak was just scared. Now they are great with it. They don’t want to leave. I think they are a lot better about making kids feel secure now a days.

  5. only just had a first visit? Wow, my dentist was giving me grief I didn’t bring my kids in until they were 2 or so. Apparently the first visit should be age 1!!

    1. Oh really? Mine said it’s good at 1 or 2 too, but since they/we brush so well and they have good teeth with enough spacing to get all the ‘gook’ out, we were good {for now anyway, though 2 out of my 3 will most likely need braces}. So, an earlier visit wasn’t necessary. Yet, I think I did take my oldest when she was 2….

  6. My first 2 didn’t mind the dentist at all. Now the 3rd is just plain scared.

    Happy WW!

    1. Hmmm, wonder what we can get them to do for a 10 cent plastic ring? I think I need a treasure box in my house!! lol

  8. That first visit to “count your teeth” really helps. The toy chest at the end of the visit doesn’t hurt either. M loves our dentist and hygienist. He always gets fussed over and they make him so comfortable.

  9. Looks like it was a successful visit. My kids love the dentist too, but my oldest just got braces. I feel like we live there now. I am the one that dreads the appointments!

  13. E isn’t fond of the Dentist but hopefully he will grow on her. Unfortunately when she had to see the dentist last week, it was an emergency situation and pretty traumatic for her =(

  14. They are so cute! I hated going as a kid but today the dentists are so much more kid friendly and the kids typically like to go!

  15. My daughter doesn’t seem to mind the dentist. She is now 24. I remeber one time in particular that she went to the dentist…she was maybe 7 and she needed to have some freezing done. I don’t remember what for but she doesn’t have even 1 filling to date. I told her in the car how proud I was of her and she didn’t even mind having the needles. She looked at me and said, “I didn’t have any needles Mummy”. She did, at least 2 needles but because I tried to make the dentist a ‘friendly’ experience and perhaps because we have a wonderful dentist…she didn’t feel them or even notice!! πŸ™‚ I hate going to the dentist and I didn’t want her to have that same fear.

  16. I remember my oldest daughters first dental visit, I think I was more nervous than her. She had a blast and loved having her pic taken for the “No Cavity Club”

  17. Love the photo! My daughter has been to the dentist a few times, unfortunately the first dentist was awful so we had to do a few months of therapy-like-dentist-visits! Lots of rides in the chair, lots of bouncy balls to take home πŸ™‚ Her last visit she did great! She is 4 year old so she had her teeth scaled for the first, couldn’t believe she let them do it πŸ™‚

  18. Mine loved going to the dentist then changed his mind – hoping he changes it back again soon!
