In June I introduced you to the Walmart Mom of the Year Award, their way on recognizing Moms across the country. The final winner will get a cash prize of $10,000 and then $100,000 will go to the winner’s charity of choice.
Well, 8 Finalist have been chosen among over 16,000 incredible nominations. You can go to MomOfTheYear.ca and read about the 8 finalists and why they are nominated by their friends, family or those in their community.
Each one is such a touching story, yet Katie Schultz’s story really stood out to me. She has a daughter who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and while that is a parenting challenge in herself, she’s taking her strength and determination even farther. Through incredible and inspirational efforts, Katie has raised over $95k for the cause – JUST WOW! It’s no surprise that if Katie wins, her charity of choice is Cystic Fibrosis Canada – for her daughter and the millions of other Canadians who are affected.
This is just 1 of 8 jaw-dropping stories of determination and really making a difference in others’ lives. They are all definitely deserving to win the title of Mom of the Year. Reading though them does bring tears to the eyes, so have the tissues handy!
At the end of September, it’ll be announced who will be chosen for the Mom of the Year award, I wish them all luck!
In the meantime, you can leave the 8 finalists messages via FB right on the MomOfTheYear,ca site. I enjoy reading through the comments already left, as so many people are inspired to pay it forward and start their own amazing acts for themselves.
Sure there will be only one winner, yet this initiative is touching so many lives in other ways, can’t wait to see the awards come again in 2013!
