SeaWorld Orlando; Family Travel

After our week at Walt Disney World and during our stay at All Star Vacation Homes, our family spent a day at SeaWorld Orlando, with thanks to Visit Orlando.

Orlando and ParkFrom what this Canadian has seen in commercials or from other people, the only knowledge I had going in was – Killer Whales. Yet what I didn’t know was that there so so much to do and see at Sea World. It really is a must-see when visiting the state.

First off, the park is HUGE, you need that handy map so grab on at the entrance. We knew that we wanted to take in Blue Horizons, the famous killer what show false killer whale show. So, before exploring Sea World, we headed to the amphitheatre to catch the next show.

Before you sit down in the bleachers, there’s whale facts all over the place, which was so great for the kids {and us parents learned a lot as well}. On the screens there is more info too, which is great for education but also a bonus to keeping the kids occupied while you wait.

Sea World and WhalesThe trainers did not get into the tank, and the whales did tricks, flips and splashed the audience in cue. We sat fairly close and dead center, yet sadly did not get splashed much {it was a scorching day, and we needed to be cooled down!}

That’s when my daughter spotted Sting Ray encounter at Sting Ray Lagoon. You stand so close, and again get so much information. My oldest daughter just beamed that she actually got to feed and touch a stingray!

Yep it’s fast and it goes upside down, but it’s also the smoothest ride. Another favorite for us adults and my daughter {age 7} was the Journey to Atlantis, a water ride that has a few dips and splashes to it.

A large building with Atlantis, The Palm in the backgroundKids will love Shamu’s Happy Harbor, a collection of great rides and attractions for just the kids {adults can partake in most, yet they really are made to please the younger crowds}. I liked that these were all in one area and we did spend a fair amount of time here. We had a lot of fun as a family on the Shamu Express roller coaster, forever known as ‘the twins’ first roller coater’!

I didn’t even scratch the surface of all the fun things to do and see at Sea World in Orlando, there are so many other attractions, shows, rides and let’s not forget – great food and drink!

Orlando and Sea WorldWhen I visit Orlando again, I would most definitely go back to Sea World. Since the park is so educational and interactive, I wished we had the time to take in more shows and exhibits.

Have a look at all that Sea World Orlando has to offer – I think you’ll be amazed as well!
