Grilled cheese sandwiches are always a favourite. Yet, let’s kick that up a notch, shall we? How about a recipe for Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwich? Mmmm!

A plate of food, with Cheese and Sandwich

Adding that Italian flaire, these are oozing with mozzarella and gives such a great flavour when combined with basil pesto and tomatoes.

It just takes 4 ingredients to make, which makes it super easy to prepare. I make mine with Dempster’s 100% whole wheat bread and side with creamy tomato soup.

Keep in mind, these sandwiches are flavorful and filling, so a half might do. Which leaves another half for a lunch-mate. Great meals are meant to be shared, right?

Enjoy!

  3. That looks delicious! I definitely need some new lunch ideas because I’m tired of eating the same things over and over. Will have to try this!

    1. same here Janet. With school ending in a couple days, I am SO SICK of making the girls’ favorite sandwiches yet they still want them. I’m trying to mix it up a bit. Beat the blahs! lol

    1. I much prefer this Mozza, it’s softer, melts better {think strings of cheese}, and seems to have a longer span before it shows age.

      1. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I love it when it’s super stringy.. I should try this. Cheese never lasts more than a week here so aging isn’t a problem.
I made homemade deepfried mozzarella sticks tonight. I bet this kind would be more tasty. I want stringy, but cheese string/stick/whatchamacallit’s are not a very tasty sort of cheese.

  4. I can’t believe that was made from such simple ingredients, it looks like restaurant quality. I’ll have to try it since my son seems bored of regular grilled cheeses

  5. Oh my, this looks AMAZING! This makes me wish I had a Panini press! I might have to try making it in a pan instead. Looks delish! Thanks for sharing!

  6. I need a panini press. I am always spending my hard earned money on panini sandwiches! This sandwich looks so good. Anything with hot gooey mozzarella cheese is great tasting!

  7. This little sandwich caught my eye. I have never used pesto. But I love grilled cheese, kind of a comfort sandwich! This might be a “serve to guests so I look like I really know how to cook” kind of sandwich!

  8. We all love grilled cheese sandwiches in our house and your recipe looks awesome. I make mine using Goat Cheese sometimes and it’s become a family fave. Thanks for sharing your recipe, I will try it for sure.

  9. mmmm I found dinner tonight!! It’s darn cold out there and neither of us really feel like cooking, this looks so dang tasty and I already have everything here! This with some soup might be just the things tonight! Thanks girlie <3
