Apple Pie Egg Rolls

Apple Pie Egg Rolls is an alternative that is most definitely super delicious! It just goes to show that you can’t turn up a nose until you give it a try, since the name doesn’t sound appealing until you read the ingredients.

I personally like to serve my Apple Pie Egg Rolls with ice cream and caramel sauce. You just can’t beat the taste!

This recipe get major points for ingenuity and flavour. Yep, it packs the presentation punch {your guests will be so impressed}, but trust me, they aren’t admired for long. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cups apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 egg roll wrappers
  • vegetable oil for frying

** For garnish after cooked

  • 1 tablespoon sugar mixed with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or icing sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium size frying pan: melt butter then add apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often until apples are tender and mixture carmelizes. Pour into a bowl and refrigerate to completely cool {about 30 minutes}.
  2. Place approx. 2 tablespoons of apple filling into each egg roll wrapper {wet edges of wrapper with water} then roll up sealing edges. Repeat with remaining wraps.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan to about 350 degrees. Add egg rolls, turning to cook all sides {slightly browned}. Depending on size of pan, you may need to cook them in 2 batches. Don't overcrowd the pan or you won't be able to easily turn them.
  4. Remove wraps to a paper-towel on a plate and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or icing sugar.
  5. Eat them just as or it's even better when served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
