Lady and the Tramp: Diamond Edition

Of all the Disney movies, Lady and the Tramp is one which we don’t have {on good ‘ol VHS}, thus it’s one which my kids have rarely talked about. For the first time, this classic is being released from the Disney Vault onto a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack. I was thrilled when offered the chance to get a copy for my family, I couldn’t honestly recall the last time we seen it!

A classic love story unfolds in the best Disney tradition as a lovely young pedigreed cocker spaniel named Lady, who lives a pampered life, finds herself falling romantically for Tramp, an amorous street-smart pooch without prospects. Although they have fun together on several dates, including a sentimental spaghetti dinner by moonlight at Tony’s restaurant, their relationship is strained not only by Lady’s loyalty to her human family and their newborn baby, but by Tramp’s devil-may-care attitude that eventually gets Lady in trouble and tossed into the dog pound. However, good-hearted Tramp redeems himself by saving the baby from potential harm and thus wins Lady’s love and the affection of her human family.

When our copy of Lady and the Tramp arrived, we all settled in one night as a family and watched together. The kids loved singing along {all of us agreed that our favorite part is the Siamese Cats part}. The twins love anything puppies and Isabelle {being a little mother}, remarked that she’s as protective of her sister as Lady is for the new baby. What hubby and I noticed right away, was how vibrant and rich the color was. It’s hard to believe that this movie is almost 50 years old!! I’m so happy this movie is now on Blu-ray, and that we have added it to our Disney collection.

And, since it’s a story of love, a great gift idea for Valentine’s Day! You can get your copy, in stores on February 7th.

We have yet to watch the Bonus features on the disc yet, yet these come with some great ones:

Blu-ray Bonus:

  • Disney Second Screen: Inside Walt’s Story Meetings*
