Origami: the first-ever power folding stroller was unveiled at CES 2012 in Las Vegas this week. With the touch of a button it can fold and unfold with no fuss or struggle. The size is that of a standard stroller, it has some other tech features that are nothing short of jaw dropping.
- Rear wheels that charge the battery while it’s pushed {via generator}
- Also charges your phone and MP3
- Day-time running lights
- Pathway lights for low-light conditions
- LCD display with a tripometer, odometer and a speed gauge
- Child Safety Sensors are located in the seat, to prevent the stroller from folding up on them
- Extra set of wheels to pull the stroller like luggage when it’s folded
- Two cup holders
I know, it’s the cup-holders that pushed this high-tech stroller over the top, right?
The Origami won the Kind+Jugend Innovation Award and Popular Science magazine’s “Best of What’s New” award in 2011.
To me, the price of $849 for the Origami {developed by 4Moms} seems pretty reasonable since a lot of high-end popular strollers are in the same range.
What do you think, parents?
Will this be one hot ‘I WANT!’ for all Mom’s out there? My guess is that it’s going to be on many gift-registries for 2012!

wow, it’s kinda like my dream stroller. Does the work for me, charges my phone & holds my coffee? #winning

That is amazing!! And affordable, considering the features. Thanks for the heads up!

Am I the only one who finds it kind of sad that this stroller comes with a sensor so that it can not be folded with child in it and that old fashion strollers come with warnings to remove child before folding?
Tammi says
that is true, Nolie. Maybe this is the start of a whole new safety feature – strollers which can’t be folded {even manually} if babe is in there… I’m sure it’ll be done, sometime!

Oh my gosh!! Where was this little beauty when my girls were a bit smaller? Must send this link to my sister right now!
Tammi says
I know, my uterus aches to see products like this! lol
Beeb Ashcroft says
This sounds like a nice way of making the folding/unfolding process simpler!
Pat B says
I heard about these elsewhere just yesterday! How I wish they’d been around when my girls were little……..(however, they would have been too pricey for me new)
Lana Thompson says
Wow, that’s a pretty sweet stroller! I could still use it for my 3 1/2 year old when we go on long walks!
Lisa Van Slyke says
This is a great stroller, but doesn’t seem to me to be one that just has a bunch of extras with no real use or purpose. If it is safe and stable for runners (the breakdown doesn’t say), then I can see it being useful with the running lights and charger capabilities, not to mention the speed gauge, tripometer and odometer. But there isn’t any storage and it doesn’t really look to be comfortable for, say, an 8 hour trek around an amusement park. The slimline are nice for transport purposes (trunk space), and on a road trip won’t utilize as much space as a regular stroller, but I can’t see it being a necessity.
