Barbie Designable Hair Extensions

“Mom! Come quick, come quick!! Look, Look, LOOK!”.

That’s the phrase I heard each time Isabelle caught the Barbie Designable Hair Extensions commercial on TV. This ‘subtle’ hint for a Christmas gift continued for months, “ALL my friends want this from Santa, Mom! It’s the coolest thing – EVER!”.

Her excitement for this particular item surpassed her shrill {in decibals} when commenting on other products she’d like one day. Parents will agree that there is a difference between excitement about a new toy – and the “I NEED THAT” kind of excitement.

So, it worked perfectly when given the chance to try out this new {and hot} product from Mattel, as a review feature in my Holiday Gift Guide. I knew this excitement had to be captured on video.

**Warning to the ears, you might want to have your finger on the volume for the part when Isabelle gets the Barbie extensions in her hot little hands. Ouch, you’ll soon notice the shrill I’m talking about.

All you have to do is go to the Barbie Designable Hair website and start designing! Like scrapbooking for kids, options include already made designs, solid colors, prints, text, stickers – so many possibilities. You can even upload your own images to use! Best of all? There’s no downloading of programs at all, so you could head over there now and get acquainted with the site. When you are done, load one sheet into an inkjet printer – and click ‘print’. That’s it!

Isabelle made quite a few designs before her ultimate ‘look’. She just loves letting her creative fashionista side run wild, even if not making some, she still uses the site just to design.

A couple things to note from the video: I stuck one bobby pin in the included barrette and it stayed put all day long, while at school and even with taking off and putting on her winter hat many times during the day. Also, when I recorded the ‘hot off the press’ printable hair extension, I hadn’t entirely separated the hair quite yet as I was letting it dry a bit longer. Once fully separated, it looks more like extensions and blends nicely into the hair when separated.

For ages 5-7, this is one gift to give! Especially since the 8-sheet package comes at a low cost of $14.99 CAD {from website}. Yet, you can also purchase a larger package that comes with a Barbie as well. My daughters’ shrieks, her huge grin and just how easy the product is to use – high fives for Mattel!

Disclosure: I received product to facilitate this review, all opinions are my own.
