Recall The Big Red Cookbook from Betty Crocker?

I have strong memories of baking with my Mom. I recall vividly standing on that kitchen chair and helping Mom, she taught me everything I know about baking. Even to this day, each time I bake I think of her and our times together so many years ago. When she passed I got her collection of cookbooks and recipe boxes, they are very cherished to me. Yet, I have addded to that collection over the years, always trying new recipes with my own daughter. Making new memories while holding dearly onto previous ones.

One cookbook which I don’t have {yet} is a Betty Crocker Cookbook. Plus, I don’t recall my mother owning one, even though over 200 Betty Crocker Cookbooks have been published since 1950. Available now, a new 11th edition, updated and revised and better than ever. The New Edition of the Big Red Cookbook is filled with 1,500 recipes and if you check out the Betty Crocker Cookbook page at Life Made Delicious, you’ll find some of them right there at your fingertips! Yes, isn’t that great!

I couldn’t resist going over and checking out some of the recipes, and immediately the Chocolate-Orange Cake with Ganache Glaze cake caught my eye. I’m a sucker for a rich cake and the Orange flavor makes my mouth water! In fact, this recipe could easily be incorporated into your Halloween Plans. Add a little orange/Halloween decor to the top and voila! A delicious cake to serve at your holiday function.

So I went immediately to the deserts and treats section of the recipes. Yet, there are some great ones for all courses from breakfast to dinner. There are hundreds on the site – check it out!

You can get your copy at Amazon and Chapters yet one lucky Canadian reader is going to get their own Big Red Betty Crocker Cookbook {ARV $35.99} right here!

I have the old 1970’s version of this book but the new edition with all its pictures is beautiful. I checked out the link for a sneek-peek and the recipe for “Triple Berry-Pomegranate Freezer Jam” caught my eye. Pomegranates are in the stores now and it would be an excellent jam to serve up in the winter months.
    Thanks. 🙂
