Zone Fast Weight Loss Program

I’m not one to jump on the latest weightloss craze bandwagon, yet I have studied and tried out a few different  nutritonal and ‘weightloss’ eating programs in my adult years. A couple have worked very successfully for me, yet that’s due in part to smart research about the program and being able to stick with it. One program which I hadn’t tried in the past, yet heard so many things about is the Zone Diet by Dr. Sears. So, curiosity and the ‘what have I got to lose but a few pounds’ reasoning made me eagerly agree to review two-week ZoneFast Weigth Loss Program from Dr. Sears.

Though I am the same weight as I was before I had the twins, that pregnancy with my multiples made everything shift to all the wrong places. Frustrating as it is, it’s been really hard to slim down after having the twins, unlike when I had my singleton 7 years ago. I have made very positive changes in my life including making trips to the gym a habit {though the summer holidays cramped that one, but I’m back at it now!}. Yet, my food choices has always been a struggle for me. When I was at my healthiest weight, after the birth of my oldest, it was because of learning about the glycemic index. Yet, that was so long ago and time has pushed all of what I learned about the gylcemic index out of my memory. At that time, I had learned it all myself and had the time and energy to plan out each and every meal based on that index. I know that to succeed again, I must walk that road again, yet this time I don’t have the time or energy. Relearning all of that again, makes me want to reach for a donut. Yep, that’s how much I don’t have it in me for studying.

The Zone Diet by Dr. Barry Sears is based on the Zone 1-2-3 foods – a healthy balance of essential nutrients coming from protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. This is the way to control insulin production, restore hormonal balance and help the body burn excess fat more efficiently. Like how I succeeded in the past, this program limits processed carbohydrates found in high-glycemic starchy vegetables, breads and sugar. Yet, unlike re-learning it all like last time, the program has done it for you, and I needed that gentle hand to lead me in the right direction again.

Please know that this program doesn’t omit any carbs, proteins or any essential foods that your body requires. Yet it does provide you with quality cabohydrates with balanced protein, essential Omega fatty acids and essential polyphenols. This allows your body to get all the nutrients it needs, and encourages it burn body fat more quickly  {getting rid of the Fat Trap}.

When I got my two-week supply of Zone 1-2-3 foods, I immediately noticed that the diet consisted of plenty from each food group. It stressed the importance of drinking water, and it even gave you one snack a day of Zone cookies or brownie. Not to mention, you still got that bagel and breads. Speak to my carb-addicted self, it was just the right kind of carbs – not the ones that got me into this mess in the first place!

The ZoneFast Program consists of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack item per day, for a fourteen-day period. Some of the foods need to be frozen if not eaten within that 2 week period. That’s because the food is fresh {made with a patented baking technology}, and will spoil if not eaten. That’s right – Zone foods are not preserved foods with a long shelf life. The program also comes with a recipe book, a sample eating plan to follow and a box of omega-3 and polyphenol supplements.

Starting the ZoneFast Program was by far the easiest program to start. Actually, it includes so many of the foods I love. Yet, it’s just smarter and balanced choices to optimize weight loss. It comes with a structured food plan, yet you can also follow Zone inspired meals and create your own menu. I chose the structured, just until I got more comfortable in making my own choices. I like that the fresh Zone breads are soft and delicious, you can’t even tell them apart from store-purchased breads. I grew fond of the Zone bagel with cream cheese and berries, I wasn’t hungry until lunchtime even hitting the gym in the morning {usually I am starving again by the time I get home from the gym}. And again, the pasta lover in me appreciated the pasta dinners with vegetables and fish or chicken breasts. I must also give mention to the Zone cookies and brownies – what a treat! Not at all what you’d expect from ‘diet food’.

Best of all, within the first few days I noticed great things happening. I no longer felt that strong compulsion to open the pantry doors many times a day. I had immense energy and just overall felt ‘better’. And, of course the scale showed progress too! Forget New Years, September is always a time for me to start making better choices and fresh starts. Now that my daughter is again in school and I have a sense of routine again, it’s nice to concentrate on me again.

Trying the ZoneFast Program by Dr. Sears give that energy and willpower to focus on stabilizing ‘me’ again. The two-week program taught me how to make better choices and create my own menu based on the balance of quality proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats {not to mention that I lost 5 lbs}. I also got a few of the Zone books to help me along the way: A Week in the Zone, The Top 100 Zone Foods, Zone Meals in Seconds. Though I’m not done reading all three of these yet, they are all informative and so helpful. Plus, they give such great motivation and support – exactly what anyone needs to succeed!

    But after visiting their well designed site
    looks like it would work in losing weight.

  24. I havent tried the zone diet, but have been intrigued by what i have heard from others. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the dos and donts of most programs and the differences between them. The structured 2 week plan would help me literally see the food choices and learn from that example.
