Have you been Introduced to Cold Stone Creamery?

I live in small city Alberta, Canada. Though it’s a darling city in itself, it lacks some of the more popular stores and restaurants which we adore. One such shop is famed Cold Stone Creamery, whose ice cream cakes are legend among those who indulge in the sweet cold treats. I had only tried the cakes once, and I really hope that our city would be blessed with a section of Cold Stone Creamery into one of our Tim Horton’s. Until then, it’s one stop on my radar when we head to ‘the city’.

This week we took a trip to ‘the city’, so when we were offered up the chance to try out the Peanut Butter Playground Ice Cream Cake for Father’s Day – I was all over it. I say ‘I’ since my husband had no idea what Cold Stone Creamery cakes were. So, there were were, sightseeing and shopping in said ‘city’, when I mentioned we had to stop and pick up an ice cream cake. My husband thought I was nuts! Yep, I had packed a cooler with ice packs for the trip, for the sole purpose of taking a Cold Stone Creamery cake back home with us.

Before packing the Peanut Butter Playground Ice Cream Cake into the cooler, hubby got a quick peek in the car. And soon he regretted not carrying plastic spoons in the glove compartment. It was a long drive home {over 2 hours}, yet the cake made it safely. As soon as we got in the door, hubby had to check out the cake that I just had to pick up and tenderly protect for over 2 hours in the car. Even before I got to take a photo, he grabbed a REECE bit off the top, see it missing in the above photo?

He loves this cake! As you well know, chocolate and peanut butter are a great combination. Yet this cake takes it one step farther and had layers of cake, fudge ganache chocolate, Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups… oh my! Definitely worth the extra stop and extra packing to take it home! And if you doubt that it’s a delicious dessert, do you recall my post about how my kids don’t like Peanut Butter? Well, all except this Cold Stone Creamery cake, that is!
The kids even licked the bowl!

The  Peanut Butter Playground Ice Cream Cake is rich and sweet, so a little sliver really does satisfy. One could very well tackle the sweet tooth for a family gathering with one cake. My hubby thinks this is the perfect cake to celebrate Father’s Day. Yet I highly doubt this dessert will last to see the weekend. 🙂

  1. This looks so yummy! Are they less expensive than Marble Slab cakes? Now I have a craving for chocolate peanut butter ice cream!

  2. Peanut Butter and Chocolate… .mmmmmm nothing goes together better! now I’m hungry…. oh why did I read this just before midnight!!!

  3. We don’t have one here but something similiar and was amazed by the store. The small town in Alberta that I grew up in didn’t have one when I went back 6 years ago..although I don’t know how long the store has been around.

  4. Oh no… Look what you did!!!! I Googled Cold Stone Creamery and found out that I’ll be driving by one tomorrow evening (all alone, with no one to witness what MIGHT happen). Do you recall that YOU were the one that told me where and what time there was going to be a Magnum tasting near me?! Tammi, you’re making it extremely difficult for me to stay on the ‘healthy eating’ kick I’m on =D
