Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen

When offered to review a Step2 product, I knew that the Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen would be ideal for my kids. At the time I needed something to keep them entertained during the last bitter winter months {they are the longest}. Yet, I also wanted them to be creative, engage in role-play and just have some fun! The Fresh Market Kitchen met all those needs – it’s a 3-in-1 kitchen with a full-size kitchen, market, and dining area.

Here is the kitchen’s arrival and assembly – overall really simple {that is, if you can keep the kids’ excitement at bay!}. As you can see from the photo above – there’s lots of chances for adventure and play!

One of the first things you’ll notice about this kitchen is the trendy colors and vibrant details. This kitchen really gives the feel of a realistic kitchen {oven, stove, microwave, fridge} bakery and market {baskets, register, display case}. As well, it has play on all sides of the kitchen, not just one. But – there’s more – here are all it’s features:

  • See-thru baker’s display case with two shelves
  • “Stainless steel” refrigerator, oven and microwave
  • Large sink area with “cutting board”
  • Electronic features: register, scanner, stove top, and range light
  • 47-piece accessory set, reusable grocery bag, and 2 “wicker” baskets included
  • Durable poly construction wipes clean easily
  • Requires 4 AA and 3 AAA batteries (not included)
  • Adult assembly required

I could have taken dozens of photos of this kitchen {wait, I did!}, and I want to use a ton of those photos in this review, since every angle and corner of this kitchen is play-space. This is really important to me, since I have 3 children. I have no patience and need for a small kitchen that is going to cause fights and tantrums if my girls get in each others’ way. This is the exact reason why the Fresh Market Kitchen is ideal, there’s lots of room!

There is a space for everything in this kitchen, from the utensils holders to the bakers display case with it’s adorable baskets. Not just cooking with a pan on the stove, my girls set up a chef’s kitchen and bakery – making dishes, washing dishes, storing food, selling meals. It’s amazing to see the role-play come out with this kitchen! It comes with a wide assortment of food, utensils and dishes too. And take note – the spoon and colander pictured below are stainless steel! Very nice!

Step2 Fresh Market KitchenFor added excitement for the kids, the stove lights up and makes noises when you turn the handle. They like the realistic sounds and the ‘action’ of cooking a meal. Above the stove is a light that you can turn on and off at the push of a button {requires batteries}. This is a cute feature, since it works as a great night-light too. And as often as the girls leave this light on, I haven’t had to change the batteries since we assembled the kitchen. Compared to other toys they leave on for the same amount of time, it not dying on us yet is a great feat!

The Fresh Market Kitchen! also comes with a cash register. The girls had a different one from another toy set, so they were happy to now have two of them. Right away I had to inspect the differences, and sure enough – the register that comes with the Fresh Market Kitchen had more interactive features. It lights up and scans when you push the button, when you slide the credit card through – the resister sale sign pops up. It would have been nice if it came with a few coins or money – but good thing we had some on hand from a previous set.

It has a darling spice rack, additional shelving on the corners – so much space! This also makes it handy when it comes time to clean up the kitchen, the girls are able to find room for the food and dishes, neatly out of the way.

For a great 360° design in including it all and providing countless hours of fun – the Fresh Market Kitchen gives quite the bang for your buck. Plus, it’s something that can always be passed down or passed through members of the family.

The regular price of the Step2 Fresh market Kitchen is $299.99 and is sold online or in stores that carry the brand.
