The Kindness of Others

One of the things I love about Social Media is that an ear is always available. Whether it be on Twitter, Facebook, blogs or other social sites – anyone can reach out to others for support and advice with just a few clicks on a keyboard.

As you may have noticed, this past week I was hit with many online attacks. My email was subjected to phishing, then one day later I had major issues with my blog. It was moving at a snails pace and I had no idea how to improve speed and functionality. I sent out a notice on my Facebook Fanpage, more of a voice of frustration than anything – yet one reader in particular not only calmed my nerves, but also offered her assistance.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You‘ to Kristen at My 3 Little Kittens for all her help in not only being a soundboard to my frustration but also explaining a few ‘plugin-type’ questions I had. She really made a difference in helping me set aside my emotions and approach things realistically. We weren’t able to entirely solve the problem {turns out a hacker had invaded my server. I know, what a week, right?!}, yet she really did help me this week, in many ways. And, it was very nice getting to know her, in the process. Kristen showed me such generosity. So, thank you very much Kristen, I appreciate you reaching out to help someone in need. Hugs!!

If you’d like to connect with a genuine soul, connect with Kristen on Facebook and Twitter.

So, Who made a difference in your life this week?

  1. That is so nice Tammi!!!! It’s really nice to see genuine acts of kindness online 🙂 I’m going to check her out on FB and Twitter too!!

    Hurray for nice people 🙂

  2. I love seeing posts like this. Not that you had some frustrations, but because someone took up the opportunity to show kindness and help you out. Way to go Kristin. Thanks for the post.

  3. That’s so cool. BTW I love the new look of your blog. For me, Jo-Lynne at Musings of a Housewife helped me out! In 2009 she created a tutorial for making a blog button w/ a box and I was messing up. I commented wondering if she could show me where I was going wrong and she totally helped me out!

    1. That is great to hear Mimi, I asked and got help for this exact issue when I first started blogging and since then have helped out other with what little coding knowledge I have. There’s nothing uglier than someone who refuses to help someone out!!
Way to go, Musings of a Housewife!!

  4. It’s so amazing the support and understanding and love you can get from complete strangers just wanting to help-Being sick, the online community is my life and I’ve received nothing but love and support these past several years from people I feel connected to, yet have never even met before.

I’m glad that you found help and that your site is now hacker free!

  5. I loved reading this positive example of help and support given when it was needed. I feel so bad when I see cowardly bullies attacking others online because they don’t like the way a blogger does something, or a choice a mom has made, or just from pure jealousy. I have nothing but respect for all the great bloggers I follow. They are hardworking and generous people. I get really riled when I see attacks of any kind being made on them. Way to go Kristen for helping one of these hardworking ladies!

    1. My thoughts exactly, Dianne. I have seen some pretty low remarks and attacks online, and it’s disgusting. I try to focus on the positive and surround myself with genuine people. Thanks for bringing that up!
