The Backyardigans We Arrrr Pirates!

Does your child love The Backgardigans? What about pirates? Well, The Backyardigans are setting sail with four exciting pirate adventures on a brand new DVD, The Backyardigans: We Arrrr Pirates. Preschoolers will have a blast learning to mambo with Sinbad and become heroes when they rescue King Pablo and his knights from the No-So-Nice Dragon. Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, The Backyardigans: We Arrrr Pirates DVD hits shelves on March 8, 2011.

Avast me hearties! In every episode of The Backyardigans, five high-spirited neighbors and friends meet in their adjoining backyards and use their imaginations to take them to different locations, for grand adventures. Each half-hour episode of this Emmy® Award-winning show features a unique music/dance genre with four original songs {these parts are my girls’ favorites}, along with real choreographed movements recreated in animation. With 98 minutes of play, this DVD is sure to get little ones up and moving, while laughing at the same time.

The Backyardigans: We Arrrr Pirates Episode Synopsis:

  • Pirate Camp – Garage-band music blasts as Captain Austin trains Uniqua and Pablo at Pirate Camp. But what happens when fearsome ghost Tasha captures the great pirate captain?
  • Pirate Treasure – Reggae plays as Captains Uniqua and Austin sail the high seas in search of treasure. Will they find it before Captains Pablo and Tyrone, or will they walk the plank?
  • Sinbad Sails Alone – Set sail for adventure and mambo as Sinbad (Tyrone) encounters rough waters, Siren Uniqua, and Medusa Tasha! Will bumbling First Mate Pablo help, or will he sink the ship?
  • The Tale of the Not-So-Nice Dragon – The Not-So-Nice Dragon has snatched up King Pablo and his Mighty Knights. Now it’s up to the Flighty Fairy (Tasha) and the Grabbing Goblin (Austin) to rescue them!

While I have girly girls through and through, for some reason my kids adore anything pirate-related. And, since the twins get very excited when The Backyardigans comes on – they really enjoyed all the episodes {even though they had seen a few of them before, it’s nice to have them on DVD}. After watching it one day in the house, they also chose this to take on a road trip. Even in carseats, they tried with all their might to dance and move – and settled for swaying of the arms and kicking of the legs.
It was really funny to watch – and very nice to have them so occupied and happy in the car!

  2. My granddaughter has an Uniqua stuffed animal that sings so I think that is probably her favorite character. Backyardigans is one of the shows they always want to watch.

  3. This is not an easy question because although my kids love this show, I don’t even know who their favorite is! I would imagine it’s Tyrone. My favorite is Uniqua. I’m going to ask them next time we watch!

  4. My oldest is like Tyrone and my youngest is like Austin. We have spent so many good times with the Backyardigans. This would be a great prize to win.
