NutriSystem ~ Week 11

This past week wasn’t nearly as energetic and exciting as last, thanks to a continuous dump of snow from mother nature. Oh, and then there’s a little thing called the flu. As well, I had so much to do this last week – very overwhelming and stressful. It was a week that I could have stayed in my PJ’s and waited for it all to pass. I only wish, right?. Yet again, I found myself thankful that NutriSystem has so many great soups, and comforting foods. It really helped me beat the blah’s, warm up and kept me from one bought of chaos to the next!

This next week will be too insane for words, as well. I leave in the early AM tomorrow and fly across Canada {I know, again}. Then, the day after I return, I do it all over again {more about my trips will come, bear with me}. It’ll be interesting to see how NutriSystem can be worked into my travels. I have become so comfortable and used to the program that it’s almost scary to shake it up this much. Before it was only a few days, and I easily slid back into the routine. This time it’ll be a lot different though. I have worked hard and celebrated successes and learned much along the way – yet I am still afraid of bad eating habits creeping back. I need to have more faith in myself, right? Indeed – my mindset is ready, and my motivation could charge through a wall. So hopefully everything will work out in the end.

Traveling and making good choices on food and exercise – can it be done? Here’s are some great tips from the people at NutriSystem. I know quite a lot fo these can be worked into my busy schedule.

Tips for Traveling When on Nutrisystem:

  • Bring your collateral with you – i.e. meal planner and on the go meal planner for your purse dining out guide etc.
  • Sit down prior to vacation to choose restaurants to eat out at that have a variety of foods to choose from and that give you healthy options. Just be honest with your travel buddies that even though you are excited about the trip and can’t wait, you still want to stay on track with the program.
  • Be sure to review the dining out guide and what’s a good meal choice
  • When dining out, remember that it’s okay to order the food cooked the way you want (i.e. salads with certain things not on the salad or on the side, steamed veggies( no oil) etc., grilled not fried etc). It’s okay to even let them know you have food restrictions and they will be sure to accommodate you
  • Bring Nutrisystem with you — the pantry ready muffins, bars, snacks/desserts etc. Even though you won’t be 100% on Nutrisystem, if you bring the items that can be packed, it will help you stay on track and not be as anxious
  • When eating out, if the portion size is too big (protein sizes should be no more than 6 – 8 oz – about the size of your palm) immediately ask for a to go box and put half in the box before eating. That way you don’t overeat and have leftovers too
  • Share items with your travel buddies …like dessert. I always do this with my husband  that way you get a little taste without overindulging.
  • Try to always go for salads as an appetizer and to get all your nutrients in and to help you feeling full longer.
  • When I go away, I try to be active – do activities where you walk around and keep busy
  • Drink water with all your meals – with a nice slice of lemon or lime
  • If you have any questions while you are away, you can always reach out to our registered dietitians by phone at: 1-800-585-5483, ext 1341

Week 11 results: -1 lbs
Total weight loss to date: -24 lbs

Despite this rough week, I’m still a ‘loser’. *giggle*

Nutrisystem is providing their program free of charge for my participation in the Nutrisystem Canada Blogging Program. All opinions regarding my experience are 100% my own.

  4. Congrats! I’d say 24lbs lost in 11 weeks is awesome! We all have our off weeks and I’m headed this Saturday on vacation for a week- taking some of my NS foods but am worried about going off plan too. At least I’ll get some good walking in. Good luck with your travels!

    1. I chose to stay this week someplace where there is a lot of walking. And, I’m glad to still be able to get a ton of activity!

  5. Congratulations! You’re right on track with 1-2 pounds per week being the desired weight loss. I’m on week 2 with Nutrisystem. I lost about 1 pound my first week. We’ll see how it goes this week.

  6. congrats on doing so well in 11 weeks. I think you can do it with your travels. I think another key is to not make excuses when traveling. No need to have the mind set, “oh it’s just this once” or “a little bit won’t hurt”. Keep your mind on track and you can do it. 🙂

  7. good job.. a lb lost is better than a lb gained!

I REALLY hope to get in on the nutrisystem blogger program when they run it again.
