Bear Paws Crackers

The day before the kids and I left for our Photo Shoot with Fisher Price, a package came in the mail. Canadian family-owned Dare Foods Limited has Bear Paws Crunchy Crackers, in the variety of Cheddar Cheese, Vegetable and Original. The company had sent me a box containing all the flavors along with some stickers, coloring pages and crayons so that myself and my kids could try them for ourselves. This entire package couldn’t have come at a better time, I didn’t hesitate to pack them along for the trip. Side story: security pulled out one box from my carry on luggage and said to me, “Smart Mom”. I thought so too!

During this particular trip, we flew right during lunch time, arriving just after supper. Likewise, flying home our flight was just before suppertime, arriving very late at night. I cannot stress how much Bear Paws Crackers saved me on that flight with the kids. They weren’t all that hungry, but they were getting very restless. That last hour and a half on the plane was iffy, as they wanted to be home – now! And, they made their wants loud and clear. I broke out the Bear Paws Crackers, snuggled them in with a movie, and their moods changed instantly. My twins even made little make-shirt bowls for the crackers using their coats. My kids slowly munched on the crackers for the duration of the flight home, and saved this Mom a potential catastrophe of epic proportions {and rude glares and whispers from other passengers too, most likely}. So yes, I can honestly say that I adore these crackers. And, they are hereby now invited on every future family trip, whether by plane or by car.

Launched in Canada last summer, Bear Paws kids’ Crackers are nut-free & peanut-free. The easily recognizable peanut-free icon on their packaging indicates that they are made in a nut-free/peanut-free facility and have undergone finished goods testing. This, my friends, is key with me since my husband has severe nut allergies – we don’t take the risk and buy anything that could cause a potential reaction. Not only these crackers, but all of the foods manufactured by Dare are made in a nut/peanut-free facility.

For years my kids have gotten the occasional treat of a Bear Paw Cookie {they love those as well!}, but now I can give them crackers too and know that they are safe for my family. The flavors are greattasting {the kids liked the vegetable best, go figure}. My daughter took some of the Cheddar Cheese Pear Paws Crackers in her school lunches last week, and requested some again this week.

So, what are they made of?

  • No artificial flavours
  • Low in saturated fat
  • No trans fat
  • Source of thiamine (Vitamin B1)
  • Source of niacin (Vitamin B3)
  • Good source of folate

All three varieties are sold at grocery and mass merchandise stores across Canada with a suggested retail price of $2.49.
