The key to the NutriSystem program is the food. Their portioned controlled entrees are delivered right to your door. And, you can choose either a pre-determined menu or customize it yourself {myself, I love being able to pick my own food}. Before I tried NutriSystem food, I was wary worried that it wouldn’t taste good and that I would feel like I was missing out on so much. Very quickly I realized that the food was very good, and I looked forward to eating my NutriSystem meals.

The NutriSystem breakfast entrees are a total hit with me. My faves are the Lowfat Granola Cereal {I am a huge fan of granola cereal and to me, this closely resembles Kashi}. I am also fond of is all their muffins, which are tiny when compared to muffins you might pick up from your coffee shop or shopping store – but they are portioned controlled. And I have learned so much about portion control with NutriSystem! I pair my breakfast entree with my favorite low calorie, high protein yogurt. And, when I am rushed for time and need to get out the door, the Granola Bars are both delicious and filling.

Some of the Lunch Entrees soups and pasta are ready-to-heat in a microwavable container and some are in a cup that you add water to, and then warm up. Personally, I do not like the ones that you add water to, with the exception of the Hearty Minestone. I find they don’t mix well {the Cream of Broccoli soup especially}, and the taste doesn’t make me rush to choose them. Instead, I think NutriSystem hit the mark on their ready-to-serve entrees, the Cheese Tortellini and the Chicken Noodle Soup are my favorites. With my lunch entree, I might add a salad or some fresh veggies to my meal. And, mid-afternoon I have a piece of fruit for a snack.

When it comes to Dinner Entrees, I have many favorites! A few are: Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Chili with Beans, Italian Herb Flatbread Pizza, Cheese and Spinach Ravioli with Meat Sauce and Rotini with Meatballs and Tomato Sauce. And, one dinner entree that has me really impressed is the Seasoned Chicken Breast. I am so very picky about my chicken breasts, I will only purchase them from one shop in my city. And, I never, ever order them from restaurants just in case they are slimy, fatty or have that gristle to them. Seriously, it’s one of those things about me – I am so picky with my chicken it is almost insane {fun fact about myself}. So, when I went to try the Seasoned Chicken Breast from NutriSystem, I was 100% prepared to not like them. Yet – I love them! I heat mine in the stove and they are juicy, well seasoned, and a lean meat. I usually make mine into a chicken burger, with some fresh veggies and a salad – oh, it’s delicious! With each of my monthly orders, I make sure to add quite a few Season Chicken Breasts to my menu!

When I get the kids tucked into bed at night, I sit with my laptop and eat a Dessert Entree. It’s a time of day I really look forward to. Again, I have a very strong preference for the sweet desserts from NutriSystem and don’t care for their salty snacks at all. I think that is one area that that could use some improvement in the NutriSystem Canada menu. Yet, the sweet snacks sure make up for it! I adore all the bars {theย Blueberry Lemon Bar is my favorite!}, the Chocolaty Chip Pudding Mix is really good and the Fudge Brownie is too. So, I do sacrifice the salty for the sweet, yet it’s a small sacrifice, and I don’t feel deprived of a sweet treat each day.

I will never give up my morning coffee {or two}, with a splash of skim milk. I drink a couple cups of Green Tea {yum!} during the day and I drink plenty of lemon water all day long. Actually, my daughters are drinking way more water now too. *ahem* Don’t tell them it’s just lemons in water, and not their believed ‘lemonade’ which they think they are drinking.

And, with all this delicious food – I continue to lose the weight!

Week 5 results: -2 lbs

I’ve been toying with the idea of using this but I was afraid that their meals would be 90% vege’s and little on the meat side but the pictures you showed/talked about it doesnt seem that way. Maybe I’ll have to look into it some more.

If you notice the trend in my favorites..most of them have meat. There are ones without, ex. vegetable lasagna, but I like my beef!
      No tofu here!

Great Week! I agree with much of what you have written actually, with regards to the taste of the foods. My favorite breakfasts are the muffins for sure! Lunches thus far, I too love the ready to eat over the added water products, and my favorite dinner thus far has been the Pasta Primavera! My fave dessert is the fudge brownie!

    I am loving your updates!:)

congrats Tammi, I chose to try nutrisystem after reading your posts and I have found the same thing to be true as you have. I can’t eat anything with the brown gravey, make me feel sick, but I love everything else, and the salty snacks aren’t for me either. I have been doing nutrisystem for 3 weeks now and have lost 4 lbs, weigh in day is tomorrow
