NutriSystem Canada, Week 6

This last week I was invited to a meal at my hubby’s parents’ house – and I became very nervous. After being on the NutriSystem program exclusively for over 5 weeks, I wasn’t sure that I was ready to make decent food choices myself. Do I just have one hearty and full meal? Do I eat half of what I would have in the past? I even contemplated not going at all..

I debated on what I would do for days leading up to the night. Silly, isn’t it? That one meal stressed me out this much? Yet I had worked so hard in my journey and I didn’t want to ‘open those doors’ quite yet. I was afraid that if I made bad choices, it would become habit…that I would fall into the routine that gave me all the extra weight in the first place.

I decided to go to the dinner, yet I was prepared. I chose to focus on the salad, asparagus, carrots and lean chicken breast. Then, I just had one small scoop of the most wonderful potatoes ever. The reason why they were good? She mashed them with cream cheese, sour cream and cheddar cheese. *gulp*. One small scoop – I am glad I had! I also had a very small sliver of the cake that I made for the dinner. I left very full, but without my pants unbuttoned. In fact, I can’t believe that the portions I used to eat allowed me to walk after a meal at all!

Looking back, I’m glad I went that night. I enjoyed a wonderful meal with my family. And, the next morning, I got myself to the gym as usual and continued on my NutriSystem {merry} little way. It didn’t break me, it didn’t sway me from my goal. In fact, I think I needed that one night to remind myself of what I used to eat and how much I used to eat. I don’t want to go back there ever again. I am in this for the long haul!

Week 6 results: -4 lbs
Total weight loss to date: -17 lbs

See? That one night didn’t affect my weight or my confidence. I learned that on occasion, nights like these can be done {as long as they don’t become habit, that is}. I am so thrilled with my weight loss this past week. My clothes are a lot looser that they were before, and people I know are starting to really notice. I am getting so many compliments. It’s such a great feeling to have more energy, to be able to move more, carry myself better, and just feel that ‘alive’ feeling again!

If you are in the process of weight management, how was your week?

  1. Wow, 4lb! Great week! I had a rough one last week, only lost 0.6lb but I was sick for a lot of it and did not workout near what I had the week before! This week I am back on the exercise bandwagon so hoping my Nutrisystem week is better! Glad to hear your success at eating a non-NS meal! So encouraging!

Wow, way to go. It’s awesome isn’t it?!? Good for you and yes, it’s ok to live and enjoy treats once in a while as long as it doesn’t become a routine.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!

  3. That is great what you have lost. I think that any weight loss plan you need to treat yourself once in a while because if you don’t you will end up craving all that stuff and end up indulging to much on those things.
As long as people remember to get back on track when they do let themselves have those treats or special meals.

  4. Wow! 17 lbs over all! That is so fantastic! The way I see it – the more you lose the more you can enjoy meals like that and not feel guilty. Before you would have eaten it and then felt horrible about it after. now you can have enjoyed it and say “it’s okay”.

  5. i hit a wall of sorts, I didn’t lose any weight this week, but I lost inches. 8 of them so far, not sure if that’s that good or bad. What do you think

    1. losing inches is good!
      I regret not taking measurements…

  8. Congratulations on your weight loss! I think even harder than going out to eat at a restaurant is eating at someone else’s house–it’s so hard to say no or “okay, but just a little.” So good for you for showing restraint in the face of super delicious potatoes! 😀

I’m stopping by from the Mommy of Two Little Monkeys weigh in link up, BTW.

    1. Thanks for stopping by!
It did take a lot in me to restrict the ‘heavy’ stuff. But, I have to keep sight of my goal.
      Thanks for the support!
