Filtrete Air Cleaning Furnace Filter

Filtrete is a company that makes many types of filters, all under the 3M brand. Choosing a quality brand of furnace filter for your home is crucial. For those of use that have allergy problems, the Filtrete Elite Allergen Reduction Filters capture 94% of large airborne particles such as pollen, smoke, dust mite debris and pet dander from the air as it passes through the filter. To go one step farther, The Filtrete Elite Allergen Reduction Filters also capture up to 40 times more microscopic particles than ordinary fiberglass filters thereby making a healthier home environment. The filters also help maintain airflow in heating and cooling systems, which may help prevent stress on the system and reduce the amount of energy needed to warm your home during the colder months {which is most months here in Canada}.

I recently replaced the filter in my home furnace with a Micro Allergan Reduction Filter. The MPR (Microparticle Performance Rating) rates how effective each filter is, at capturing the smallest airborne particles and allergens. A 3M Filtrete 1085 air cleaning filter is effective at attracting and capturing allergens such as pollen, mold spores, lint and dust mite debris. The electrostatically charged fibers will also attract and capture microscopic particles such as smoke, pet dander and household dust.

When I took out our old filter, I noticed the difference right away, Our old {cheap} filter almost fell apart in my hand, the cardboard edging was so flimsy. The Filtrete filter fit so snugly in the furnace filter compartment, ensuring that circulating air will go through the filter and not around it and out the side. Of course this filter will be used for months before replacing, and testing microscopic quality isn’t my forte – yet I do notice that it’s quality is of high standard, which gives me peace of mind that it’s doing it’s job.

My 3M Filtrete air cleaning filter should be changed every three months, and thankfully our digital thermostat reminds us when it’s time to change. An easy way to remember is to change your filter with the turn of each season. Spring is coming near – have you changed your furnace filter lately?

  7. Changing filters often is a good idea not only will a new filter help to contain airborne particles in your home. A dirty filter will decrease efficiency of your furnace as the furnace has to work harder to pull air thru the intake.

I would try the filtrate professional faucet filtration system. It seems easy enough to install with quick connect and compression fittings.
I do wonder about the wisdom of installing a filter to reduce sediment on a single fixture. Usually a straight inline filter system right off the main water supply works best as excess sediment from a well can play havoc with electronic controls on dishwashers, and washing machines. Unfortunetly this is usually cost prohibitive though as its best to have a plumber install it.

  25. Filtrete charges way to much for thier filters. They stopped naming MERV ratings on thier packaging because they did not want you to compare apples to apples to brands that are much cheaper with the same quality.
