Romantic Movies for Valentine’s Day

Since having kids, our Valentine’s Day is usually spent at home {if Hubby isn’t working}. We cook a nice meal for the family, and a nice dessert that us and the kids make. Then after the kids go to bed, we snuggle in for a relaxing movie. Alliance Films re-released some romantic movies for Valentine’s Day, all with cute pink heart packaging and available in stores now. All the films in this Valentine’s Day Promotion are epic love stories, some with a bit of comedy. All are great choices if you’d like a little ‘tug at the heartstrings’ story to celebrate the annual day of love. I got to review a few of the movies for myself, take a look:

Director: Nick Cassavetes
Cast: Ryan Gosling, James Garner, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands

Synopsis: Behind every great love is a great story. As teenagers, Allie and Noah begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie’s upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn’t right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion. Based on the Best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, THE NOTEBOOK is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force.

The Time Traveler’s Wife
Director: Robert Schwentke
Cast: Rachel McAdams, Eric Bana

Synopsis: When Henry DeTamble meets Clare Abshire in a Chicago library they both understand that he is a time traveler, but she she knows much more than this about him as he has not yet been to the times and places where they have met before. He falls in love with her, as she has already with him, but his continuing unavoidable absences time traveling – and then returning with increasing knowledge of their future – makes things ever more difficult for Clare.

Director: James Mangold
Cast: Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman

Synopsis: Meg Ryan (You’ve got mail) and Hugh Jackson (X-Men) are paired as star-crossed lovers who discover that passion and chivalry never go out of style! When a rip of time brings together a charming 19th century bachelor and a thoroughly 21st century woman, the potential for an old-fashioned modern romance ignites!

If there is ever a movie that is guaranteed to make you cry, it’s THE NOTEBOOK. It’s a love story through and through, and don’t expect a few tears – but a bunch of sobbing. But, it’s a wonderful story that will stay with you long after you watch it. Kate & Leopold is a movie I have seen a few times, mainly since I adore Meg Ryan. Though I wouldn’t consider this film as one of my favorites which star the ultimate on-screen sweetheart {ahem, I’m a ‘You’ve Got Mail’ nutcase, little fun fact about me}, yet it is an original story about true love, no matter which century you are in. This one has humor throughout, so it’s got some comedic relief mixed in with the story. The Time Traveler’s Wife is a movie that I only just recently seen for the first time. And, it’s one that you have to pay attention to, so you don’t get confused {all that time-jumping}. Quoted as being, ‘The most romantic movie since THE NOTEBOOK’, I was pretty sure I’d enjoy this one. And I did, but have that tissue ready! If you haven’t yet seen this one, you should!
