We all have our own preferences when it comes to chocolate – and mine is plain milk chocolate found in Cadbury Dairy Milk Bars. It’s sweet, smooth and melts in the mouth. Yet, please don’t call it plain – to me, chocolate shouldn’t be complicated. Now, I have one more reason to celebrate my favorite chocolate – Cadbury Dairy Milk Bars are now Fair Trade Certified!
Making chocolate history across the country, Cadbury proves to be a leader in this huge Fair Trade announcement. Now, I can enjoy more than the delicious chocolate in Cadbury Dairy Milk Bars – it also benefits more than 60,000 Cocoa Farmers in Ghana, Africa and 6,000 sugar farmers in Belize! How does it benefit them? Th farmers are paid a fair and guaranteed price for their crop, plus an additional social premium that is invested back into their communities. Especially keep this in mind when choosing your mini-bars to hand out on Halloween!
Beginning August 17, 2010, Cadbury will be celebrating Fair Trade by taking the “Fair Trade Pledge” – a symbolic show of support – to various communities from coast-to-coast. The Pledge features Ghanaian artwork that illustrates the benefits of Fair Trade, and Canadians will be encouraged to add their names as a sign of support for the principles of Fair Trade.
