The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Collection

The Body Shop released a new line of bath and beauty products on April 12th, the Spa Wisdom Collection. The entire collection was developed to help create a pampering paradise in your own home, inspired by beauty rituals, traditions and ingredients from around the world. Which makes perfect sense to me, as I think of traveling to far off lands when I imagine the ultimate relaxing spa experience. Of course, I can’t jet off to an exotic place when needing some R&R, so it’s nice to be able to bring some of that into my own home. There are 4 collections {locations} included in the Spa Wisdom Collection, all with different scents and Community Trade ingredients which are indigenous to each culture. They all have various scrubs, lotions, sprays and cleansers in each Line, and I was able to try out a few fro review!

Spa Wisdom ~ Africa
The fragrances and textures are rich, warm and comforting. Some authentic indigenous African fair trade ingredients in this line include ximenia oil {from the native African ximenia tree and renowned for its skin softening and conditioning benefits}
I got to try the Honey & Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter, a thick moisturizer meant for those really dry areas. It comes in a reusable kilner jar, which really adds to the presentation. This was my first time trying a product with ximenia oil, and I have to say – it’s divine! To be honest, this scent distinctly reminds me of one of the vacations we took before we had children. One of our hostesses wore a similar smelling perfume, and at first sniff of this line immediately brought me back to that vacation. Needless to say, using this product puts a smile on my face!

Spa Wisdom ~ Polynesia
With the calm and soothing feel of relaxing at a tropical oasis, this collection features exotic fragrances inspired by the islands of Polynesia – tropical tiare, pikaki, frangipani and ylang, with a touch of citrus fruit rounded out with amber, vanilla and musk.
I got the Monoi Moisture Balm which has Community Trade organic cold pressed coconut oil from Samoa, Brazil nut oil from Peru, cocoa butter from Ghana and Shea Butter from Ghana. And, this scent also takes me back to my past island getaways. This is a brilliant combination of fragrances, a very nice scent. It may be similar to a mild suntan lotion – yet in any case, I adore being able to smell like I just got a massage on an island beach!

Spa Wisdom ~ Morocco
The traditional Moroccan hammam is a place which is renowned for rejuvenation and revival. The collection features argan oil, a wonderful skin protector and floral orange blossom from Morocco, for a sensual fragrance with a hint of mystery.
I got the Orange Blossom Finishing Mist, which hydrates and refreshes the skin. This can be also great for those who can’t wear perfume. This mist has Moroccan argan oil, sweet orange blossom, plus Community trade aloe vera from Guatemala. I’d describe this scent as floral yet with a kick of musk in it. It’s a very exotic and unique scent!

Spa Wisdom ~ Japan
Without leaving home, you can travel to the Far East and indulge in delicate, beautifying products inspired by the flawless beauty of the Japanese people and their region. The products in this collection are infused with Adzuki Bean, a legume that has been used as a facial wash in Japan for over 12,000 years. It also has the sweet smelling Yuzu fruit to help exfoliate skin. I was able to try the Adzuki Bean and Rice Bran Shower Gel and the Yuzu and Green Tea Bathing Salts in the Japan Collection. The fragrance is very delicate and mild, yet full of florals and hints of citrus. I especially like the bath salts, the scent ideal for relaxing in a warm bath. And, the scent stayed long after I got out of the bath too. The ingredients in the Bathing Salts are inspired by the ‘ofuro’ bathing rituals of Japan.

The Spa Wisdom Collection can be purchased online or in stores – and the products are available to purchase individually or in great Gift Sets as well.

In short, I am very impressed with the Spa Wisdom Collection from The Body Shop. After all, the ingredients used in The Body Shop products comes from many fair trade Communities throughout the world. So, it only makes sense to have a line of products that truly reflect the region from which the ingredients came. I think The Body Shop hit the mark with the Spa Wisdom Collection, each region featured is unique and captures the feeling of leaving everyday stresses behind – and relaxing in far off lands. Just what this Mom needed!
