BitDefender | Total Security 2010

If you are reading this, you are on a computer. And chances are, it’s your own personal computer {unless you are at work. And in that case, don’t get caught and send this site link to your co-workers too!} When it comes to computers, you need a solid and reliable antivirus software program, to protect your computer, and your information. There is no debating it, you need one. After all, having a virus, hacker, spam or other type of malware invade your computer can be catastrophic, both financially and emotionally {yes, my last computer crashed and I literally cried} We live in a social media age where Facebook, emails, chat and browsing sites wave a huge flag inviting internet viruses to attack, so where do you look when seeking antivirus software?
Myself, I ask others what they use for antivirus software. I don’t read the program packaging or catch up on the latest computer-geek reviews {sorry guys, I don’t understand it at all}. And that is why, when asked to review the latest and greatest antivirus software from BitDefender, I accepted – to tell you my honest take on it {since obviously I need a very reliable and dependable program}.

For review, I got the BitDefender Total Security 2010.
This program offers:
~ Antivirus, Antispyware
~ Anti-phishing {maximum identity protection}
~ Identity Protection
~ Firewall
~ Antispam
~ Parental Control
~ Optimized Performance {scans 60% faster}
~ File Shredder
~ Online Backup

The BitDefender Total Security 2010 software was really easy to install on my computer, yet I did experience an initial issue with the program – I found that it slowed things down a little. And that, I could not live with. BitDefender was extremely prompt with helpful support and in a matter of only a couple of simple changes in my program options, my computer was running at a fast yet protected speed. Needless to say, my first experience with BitDefender was with their customer service, and it passed with absolute flying colors! And product support is always fantastic to see, especially when it comes to technology.

And since I am not a techie – I won’t tell you the exact specifications on anything to do with this program {I won’t reiterate directly from the website, yet you can certainly read up on that for yourself}. What I will tell you is what I have personally experienced, and how it applies to my daily computer-usage.

~> Independent. First of all, I didn’t need to do anything after setup. It does it’s scans every hour, and I might notice it scanning or I might not – depending on what it finds. It’s not annoying with constant questions or alerts that leave you wondering if you just answered incorrectly and it won’t work properly the next time. Really, it’s a silent protector that leaves you alone, unless necessary, and I like that…because, I have better things to do. Don’t we all?
~> The BitDefender program skips over previously scanned items and files, only hitting the new files and information – and this is what makes the Total Security 2010 an optimal program that doesn’t slow down performance.
~> all emails I get or send are quickly scanned for viruses {including IM’s}. And yes, I did get an email virus from great-Aunt Suzanne long ago, so I do appreciate this feature.
~> The Total Security 2010 tests suspicious codes, which means this program can protect your computer from viruses that have not yet been identified and reported. This means a great deal to me, since past programs alerted me *after* they have gone through, which is not really helpful, right guys?
~> And last but not least, since we all want to know the cost of programs – the Total Security 2010 from BitDefender does double the work at a less of a cost than many others!

Disclosure: I received product to facilitate this review. The opinions on this blog are my own.
