Kumquat

While doing past reviews of a few baby boutiques, I kept seeing a specific brand of clothes pop up in their stores. The brand is called Kumquat, and I always paused at the great designs I saw. I had many times admired the nice cut and shape of the clothes. I am happy to be working with Kumquat on a review, and seeing for myself if there was a reason why it was a sought-after brand.

What I find most attractive about the clothes at Kumquat, is that each collection has so many great types of clothes in the same design. From onesies, to sleepers, hats, pants, dresses and blankets – each design can suit baby to toddler. Either a print for one child as they grow, or coordinating outfits for children of different ages. Also, they have a nice selection of preemie items, which is great to know. I had the hardest time trying to find nice preemie clothes for Katie, so just in case: bookmark this site for yourself (or others you know)!

For review, the twins received the Girl’s Rock Tee and pants from the Spring 2009 collection. I like this design for the pink and brown coloring and the various details through these 2 pieces. The pants feature an adorable polka dot design with a ruffle hem (which will actually match many of the tops they have now, which is great). The Tee has a lovely ruffled hem along the neck and the sleeveless arm openings. A signature to the Girl’s Rock line is the tiny guitar prints on fabric. It’s certainly feminine with a rock-inspired look.
The girls got a second outfit from Kumquat, from the Puppy Love, Fall 2008 Collection of designs. The shirt has a bold fuchsia pink centre with dog prints, from big to little dog. Then, there is dark brown, green and pink stripes on the long sleeves. This striped pattern is carried into the pants that match this top, complete with a ruffled hem along the bottom. The outfit is bold, loud and demands to be noticed. Fabulous! The Puppy Love pattern alone has over 25 articles of clothing, in this design. I also like the zip-up hoodie from this collection as well. The size I received for the twins is an 18 months, and I’ll get use out of it right through wintertime. The material for both outfits is very soft and washes and wears perfectly! Kumquat has many collections, and so many items in each line. I think a great gift idea for that new little one would be many pieces from a Kumquat collection. For instance (from the Girls’ Rock line) you could gift a blanket, hat, onesie, tee, skirt and bib. That way the design can be admired from baby to toddler. I applaud Kumquat for designing styles that span across many ages! Adorable and unique – I can now completely understand why so many trendy boutiques carry this brand.
