Keurig

When, I heard the words, “Mom, Fed Ex is here!” from my daughter who was looking out the window – I was pretty happy. But when I opened the door and seen that he had 2 boxes labelled Keurig, I almost kissed the guy!

Ah, coffee. It has become a staple in my day. Really, I think it keeps this Mom going. I thought back to the early morning, as I stood in the kitchen waiting for the coffee to perk. “Hurry…Hurry”, as I heard the faint stirrings of the twins, as they rose for the day. HURRY!

I just want one cup before all chaos hits! HURRY! Too late. I cursed the slow perk and defeated, put down the cup and stumbled to their bedroom door.

Thanks to Keurig, I received the Platinum Brewing System. It’s Keurig’s best single-cup brewing system for the home. I eagerly took it out of the box…a beautiful and sleek machine, I must say.

A premium piece to display on the counter top. (yet, not much bigger than my slow-brewing ‘wonder’ I so easily pushed aside to make room.

Sorry, faithful friend – there is a meaner, leaner machine to kick-start this Mom every morning!

The Platinum Brewing System offers such a wide array of features including:
– Auto On/Off
– Digital Clock
– Adjustable Temperature Control
– “Set Your Favorite Cup Size” option, which is really great. You can pick 5 different volumes to make, from teacup to travel mug. This also allows you to adjust the strength of the brew. Like it thick? Teacup! Weaker? Big mug! (this is wonderful, as many people have such different preferences on strength).
– a 60 oz. removable water reservoir, which holds up to 10 cups. This means that you don’t have to fill it with water after every use.

Hubby was super-impressed by the blue lit water reservoir and blue lit LCD display, “It’s like waking up to a nightclub on the counter!”.

I was more concerned with the java. So, I dived into the 5 boxes of K-Cups I received from Keurig. I got Emeril’s Dark Roast Gourmet Coffee, Van Houtte 100% Colombian, Green Tea by Twinnings, Timothy’s White Hot Chocolate and a box of variety K-Cups like decaf, flavored teas, french roast etc.

What a magnificent selection! There isn’t one that I don’t like yet. (the variety pack is included with the brewing system, and it’s a great way to introduce yourself to the various brands)

What I received is just the tip, there are probably hundreds featured on the site.

As you recall, I published a ‘Dear Barrista’ letter a while back when I tried to take the kids through a coffee shop drive through.

That was a total nightmare! Unfortunately, I love my specialty coffees now and then and try to sacrifice the time and money for this treat. What I didn’t realize was that the Keurig Platinum Brewing System made everything from coffee and cocoa to ICED TEA!

You can get online recipes for great drinks using Keurig, I found a great idea using Gloria Jean’s Pomegranate Berry Fusion. That would make a nice sweet iced drink, wouldn’t it!

Any time of the day, I can enjoy a hot or cold treat. And, at the touch of a button, I can even get hot water for oatmeal or soup. A cup of White Hot Chocolate at my favorite coffee shop costs me about $4.70 CAN (plus gas and the agony of packing 3 kids along).

Using the Keurig to make one is a frugal steal at just over .50 per cup! Woo-Hoo!

Plus, we make a pot of coffee and it’s cold (and old) before we have a chance to drink much of it. What a waste! It is so nice to have a delicious hot cup of fresh coffee in under a minute.

This sure beats any appliance that I have ever owned. I will definitely think of Keurig when it comes to that special gift to give.

As a matter of fact, for all those wives that have ever got a vacuum for Mother’s Day – I suggest a Keurig for Father’s Day. Hey, why can’t you benefit too!?!? {{evil laugh}} The Keurig Platinum Brewing System has far exceeded my expectations and I just can’t bear to call it simply a ‘coffee maker’, it’s my newest baby!
