Hip On Sunset

I have really come to love black clothing on kids. Not only is it a staple color for anyone’s wardrobe, black also makes a unique statement becasue it is really hard to find. In my quest, I found Hip On Sunset.

Their line of black rock and roll inspired clothing made me take notice. The company was started by friends Jennifer Wallace and Amy Stecklein in 2008. “Both women realized that there is a whole new generation of parents with small children at home who are snatching up children’s tees at rock shows, however, they never had any hip and chic pajamas to tuck their little ones in with at night!” And that is exactly what I agreed with.

My daughter loves her PJ’s and when it came time to find her some, I was very disappointed in the selection found in stores. $25 just because it has a princess on the front? No Way! Hip On Sunset makes me appy as they incorpoate black clothing and PJ’s!
The sleepwear at Hip On Sunset is tattoo-inspired. With an edge, and lots of attitude. Isabelle received the Girls Guitar pair, see the companies signature wings with the guitar? I adore that the designs of pink and white really pop against the black foundation. Even the matching pants have the same great design. The back of the PJ’s say, “someday i’ll have my own rock show”, which I like. It’s the: ‘I can be anything I want to be!’ personality, which my daughter definately has. Hip On Sunset uses 100% interlock cotton, which is soft and comfortable. They are hand screen printed, and doesn’t crack nor fade even wash after wash. The person most impressed with these PJ’s is Hubby, as he still inspires to be a rock star when he grows up. He has a wide goofy grin when Isabelle wears Hip On Sunset, saying “Yeh!” and throwing high-fives her way. Especially in a house with 4 woman and lots of pink fru-fru clothing, he really loves Hip On Sunset.

Hip On Sunset has more than just PJ’s, they also have Tee’s that resemble the ones at rock concerts. Isabelle got their Peace Tee, which is cotton made and hand screen printed (just like the PJ’s). Again, I like black as you can pair it with pants, jeans, skirts (in pretty much any color). For a touch of femininity, there is a gauze fabric ruffle on the bottom of the shirt, which Isabelle calls her ‘Mini Tutu’. (You can’t take the princess out of the rock star!) Each Tee from Hip On Sunset comes with it’s own iron-on patch, so you can customize another article of clothing to go with the Tee. Isabelle’s patch would look great on a pair of jeans or a jacket.
Hip On Sunset carries sizes 2-8, for both boys and girls. Their products have been CPSIA lead tested and passed with flying colors. They are not flame resistant, to avoid the chemicals that would then have to be placed on them. (Plus, they wear out after so many washes anyway) So, they suggest ordering sizes that are snug.
