“MEDERMA® is a transparent, topical gel that allows patients to treat even the most conspicuous scars with confidence. The greaseless, pleasant-smelling gel is massaged directly into the scar, so there are no uncomfortable cosmetic pads or dressings. With consistent use, MEDERMA® will help reduce the appearance of scars resulting from surgeries, injuries, burns, acne and stretch marks.”

I am impressed that this creme comes with SPF 30. With other cremes, it’s only a guess as to how it’ll react when exposed to direct sun. With some, very negative reactions can result so it;’s reassuring to know that this is safe to use on kids. This scar cream has very direct instructions: “Apply a thin coat of MEDERMA® to the scar, and gently massage in three times a day for eight weeks on new scars and three times a day for three to six months on existing scars.”

I have used the creme for about 8 weeks, but not as diligent as the directions specify. You know those days when you completely forget?!?! But, in the time that I have used it, I have noticed a lightening to the small scar that Isabelle received a couple of years ago from a dog bite. I love that it had a great smell, not that strong hospital smell like the others. And, it went on smooth and completely dried without leaving a greasy or sticky feel to the skin. Also, because it starts off a purple hue and dries clear, you can see how much you are applying. It is definitely intended for kids!
