When The Family Review Network asked me to review an item (invented by a Mom) that promised to help kids learn to tie their shoes, I was eager. I had heard other Moms say it was a long and drawn out process. And Isabelle still didn’t know how to tie her shoes, and to be honest – I had no idea even where to start.
Tie Buddies is a patent-pending ‘tool’ that enables kids to master this task faster and easier then without. These kid-friendly (being that they come in cute designs) tabs are placed onto each lace. They make the ‘bunny ears’ for you, so that that kids can perfect their tying skills before trying to understand all the the looping that needs to be done. Which to me, makes perfect sense. Their little fingers would have a hard time trying to hold the laces in place in order to get the job done.
The first thing we needed to do was go out and buy her shoes with laces (yep, all her others had Velcro) Tie Buddies came with easy to understand instructions and putting them on the laces was very simple. (I had to practice first, before showing Isabelle). I showed her once, then she wanted to try. SHE DID IT THE VERY FIRST TIME! I kid you not, my daughter who had never even attempted to tie a lace did it on the first try, and has been doing it ever since. I am amazed!
She is so very proud that she can do this herself now, she has probably told everyone she knows. Plus, the cute pink tabs in the fairies and magic wands are right up her alley. I highly recommend Tie Buddies to any parent, they are simple devices that give kids Independence and a sense of accomplishment.
